Hi, I'm new to gbpvr. I recently installed a Theater 550 in my Vista box and installed gbpvr. I have noticed that the recording service just doesn't run start when it should from time to time. I will see the icon in my tray, but it appears to stay in sleep mode. Out of 10 times I have recorded, it didn't start 2 times. I can right click and choose to restart the recording service and it works. Has anyone ran into this before? Could it be the service needs to be restarted every time I go into the config?

Another question. When I originally set the EPG recording guide, I could easily choose to record a daily show multiple times. The same show runs two episodes, one after the other. Now if I try to chose anything but a one time recording it will just close and the screen is still green. If I go back, choose a one time recording, it will be red and next weeks show will also be chosen. Could this be due to the same show, next week, at the same time being marked? I noticed it only happened after I selected to record a show week to week, and then went back to cancel and record the same show again. (paranoid about initial problem I guess)

I'm not aware of any reliability issues with it.

The best thing you could do is post the logs when it doesnt work, so that I can take a good look an try to let you know what happened and why.

Again, zip and attach the logs for this and I'll take a look.

I'm not sure where to find the log file.

On a side note, what is the best setting for logging? I set it to "info" hoping it will grab all data.

The 'Debug' level catches the most useful information in the logs.

The logs can be found in c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\logs. Its best to post them immediately after reproducing the problem, and include a complete set of logs.

attached are the log files.

I started going through them, but the time seems off. Is there a limited amount of data in each log file? The time in question was 5:30est today, but the latest date I see is around 9:30pm. If it helps, I had to start the service at ~5:33 today and it was set to start at 5:30 with a 1 min buffer.

In the future, I will check these files close to the problem time. Thanks for all the info. Big Grin

What exactly was supposed to happen at 5:30 that didnt? I'm not quite sure what to look for without a bit better summary.

Also the software has been restarted several times, which overwrites the logs. The oldest backups in the recording service logs started at 5:32 - did this error happen before or after this time?

I had a daily recording set for 5:30. When I looked at the clock it was about 5:33 and it had not started recording so I right clicked the icon, chose to restart the recording service and it began recording.

Typically it always starts at about 5:29 and records to 6, Mon-Fri. Today it just never started. The same thing happened last Saturday for a weekly program. Previous to that, it has always started. (I have only been running it for maybe 2 weeks)

Ok, well it sounds like you'd restarted the software too many times since then, so the logs that would have shown the error have been long since overwritten.

Next time you have a problem like this, zip and attach the logs immediately and post them.
