Well, as this is the wishlist section, I'll post some things I would like to see in GB-PVR.

1) Improved search that allows you to specify more than the first character of the show and then have to scroll through all shows.

2) Ability to record by type. For example, I happen to be one of those odd people that enjoy watching fishing shows. I would like to be able to say record all shows of type 'Fishing' and have it record all shows that fall under that category.

3) Ability to define simple rules to control automatic deletion of recorded shows.

4) While navigating via mouse on the pc, it would be nice if there was always a way to go 'Back' to the previous window. I have had several times where I had to dig up the remote simply so I could get back to the main menu (Go to the TV Guide page for instance).

All in all, I must say that GBPVR is looking pretty slick. There are a few areas I am hoping more development occurs on, but it is looking good. Now, if the source was released I'd even look at trying to add some of these features on my own, heh.

ok 1 and 2 could be handled by "fast find", well for two you wud search the keyword "fish" and that would display a result.
4 can be handled by pressing the home/escape keys (sure not on mouse, but u dont need a remote).

last comment, u could add all these via plugins. no need for the source Tongue well for no 4 u would have to rewrite the tv guide and everything.

Option 3 is on a mental list of my helper applications to work on. Specifically, specify the number of shows to keep. Delete when disk space gets to a certain limit, etc. No time frame on when this will be done though, busy with a recording manager helping with scheduling at the moment.

Seems like the Video Archiver http://www.bladerhq.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...eoArchiver
would be the place for that feature...

I noticed that Beyond TV has a very small menu centered on the top center of the screen with a back and home buttons on it for that purpose... nice feature.

I've added a new feature to the next release of the Video Archive plug-in to let you specify a low disk space warning level. If any of the disks being used for recordings, archiving, videos, or DVDs drop below this level a warning messge will be displayed in the video archiver panel (assuming that you have added the video archive panel to your main menu skin.xml file). It's not automatica deletion, but at least it tells you you have a pending problem.

yeah i believe a universal menu bar would be a good feature to add, every pvr seems to use this. the dell media experience i believe did the best menu bar, also it would be nice if plugindevelopers could add a menu item to this (like if a dvd is being ripped the status etc, so its always visible). and would have keys like back, exit, shutdown, if music is playing stop, pause, next, prev, play.

not like how windows mce does it thou (well make it skinnable) im not a fan of there minimize, max, close buttons on a pvr.

Well, I will have to look further at the fast find plugin, thanks. One question I have is for my #2 item - being able to specify a 'type' of show to record (fishing, hunting, etc). I am not talking about searching and then manually marking them all to be recorded, just telling it to 'go record all shows of THIS type'. That is what I was talking about.

i dont think gbpvr stores that information about the shows, since many people use xmltv, which has limited information, sub does not store extra information like show type (if you get it from zap or something). there may be a plugin being developed that might be able to do this however (think i read it somewhere).

Rchady, currently within GBPVR there isn't a way to do what you want. Outside of GBPVR you could possibly use the AddReOccuring utility to search based on key words. It'll automaticly schedule recordings based on the keywords you tell it to search. Not exactly what you want. There are plans from the developers community to add the feature that you are looking for, but right now other projects are taking our limited time away from doing that.
