Thanks for the response statik.
Looks like mencoder is reading the edl file correctly. I will try the latest download off mplayer. Do you have a suggestion for which version of mplayer/mencoder works for you?

Thanks stattik.
mplayer2007.01.21 fixed the problem.

Again, the problem was not with the script or with comskip. Both worked great.

Problem was with mencoder.
mencoder from MPlayer 1.0rc1 Windows downloaded from http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html resulted in missed segments in the movie. BUGGY.

mencoder2007.01.21 downloaded from http://tirnanog.fate.jp/mirror/mplayer/ works great. No missing segments. It also runs three times faster than the 1.0rc1 (as reported in previous posts in this thread). Not sure why - the version I used is not even optimized for any system - just generic mencoder.

Anyway, thanks again for the help.

Hi Stattik

I'm having a strange problem were i get the following error, and i dont know what it means? Im using the latest mencoder for AMD64 (i have opteron 146 - but the error was the same with the standard edition)

Im also using ShowAnalyser, again does this matter?

Any advice appreciated as always

Hi Stu,

Just remove the spaces in the path to mplayer.
Change
Code:
C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\mencoder\mplayer.exe
to
Code:
C:\Progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\ThirdP~1\mencoder\mplayer.exe

Hi,
I'm new to this script, but liking it - thanks. However, it seems to ignore some (IMHO) badly named files. Namely, ones with exclamation points in the filename, like "Jeopardy!_20070125_19302000.mpg". If I manually rename the file by excluding the exclamation point, AutoTranscode finds it and starts its business just fine.

How can I automate this file renaming, either before AutoTranscode starts, or within its script to accept "!" ? Any other suggestions?

Cheers,
Dave

The script sees "Jeopardy!_20070125_19302000.mpg" as "Jeopardy_20070125_19302000.mpg" which is why it skips it. The easiest method would probably be to rename the file before processing but I'll have to figure out how best to do that. In the meantime, you should be able to manually drop "Jeopardy!_20070125_19302000.mpg" on the script and it should process fine.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it works fine manually which is fine.

Now for another problem -- when I transcode an mpeg in twopass "size mode", it doesn't matter what size I tell it (defaults to 88MB/15min), the output is always about 2.5 times bigger than the the default (~220MB/15min). Is anybody else seeing this?

Hi dlogan,

Download Gspot and run it on the file you created. On the left in the Container box check to see if the file size is correct. My guess is that it will say that's there's hundreds of megs of junk data in there.

I found that recent builds of mencoder keeps the container from the first pass and adds the data from the second pass to it. The current version of the script I'm working on deletes the first pass before writing the second pass.

So the first thing to verify is the junk data. If you've got it, I would suggest trying the 1.pre8 version of mencoder located here since it doesn't seem to have that problem:
