Mine is the same way. My AIW 9000 looks really good because of the cable box. The tuner in the HDTV Wonder (analog) must have a low sensitivity. I also have an AIW 7000 in another machine that I use for backup recording and it is the same way. It looked really good with a cable box also but has a snowy (noisy) picture with the tuner. I don't think you can do anything about it.

bigbus01 and anyone else with this card - question for you all.

Entirely aside from gbpvr, I am trying to get this card working right now. I installed all the drivers and software from ATI's website, I can fire up the tuner and get it to scan for channels, and even tune to them. One problem - no audio!

I got this card used from someone - bare card, no CD, no cables, no instructions, nothing. Am I missing a component that needs to be hooked up for audio? or is this a software issue? Once I fix this I'll move on to integrating it into GBPVR...

thanks

A quick guide on TSReader Lite would be very nice, if you have the time.

I am setting GB-PVR up for the first time and not having a whole lot of luck. I am using an HDWonder card. I found out right away that the channel scan didn't work for me. After reading this thread and some others on this forum, I have been using TS Reader. I think I have the right values from it and put them into GB-PVR manually. Using TS Reader, I can see the channels. I use WatchHDTV as well with great success. I really want the EPG with this app.

So, what could be wrong? I try to tune in a channel and get just a black screen and no sound. Using VMR9 Custom give me a nice display message of no signal detected, but I see full strength and quality bars on the display.

I think Sub did a tutorial back in the summer on TS Reader (it was when he was trying to get the automatic channel scan working). I set mine up a ways back manually, you have to work a little to get all the settings from TS Reader (each channel and each sub channel to get the settings).

For the EPG, I have a second user name on Zap2it just for DTV. I use Zap2it for the HDTV Wonder capture source. I tried using xmltv and it worked for a while but was susceptible to problems (I think it was related to Zap2it changing channel ids or something).

If I get a chance I will try to capture some images from TS Reader and post them.

I wrote a quick tutorial on TS Reader for HDTV Wonder. I did it in PowerPoint. Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you need more detail.

OK.

I acquired the original install CD for this card. Installed the latest drivers for everything, including the ATI CDwiz.exe program which verifies your CD and installs some stuff (audio decoder I think).

I have the digital side of the card hooked up to my power-amped Terk antenna (which to date works great for providing signal to my TV's integrated ATSC tuner. I watched the whole Super Bowl with no blips in HD reception). With both the ATI Multimedia center program and WatchHDTV, I get a very stuttery picture when viewing 720p or 1080i signals, but when viewing standard def signals the video plays perfectly smooth. (i.e. this is like when one of the local stations broadcasts their content over a 720p/1080i signal on the first station, like 4-1, as well as broadcasting the 480i signal on the next station, like 4-2. I am NOT using the analog side of this card currently).

CPU utilization is considerable and bounces between 30-50% most of the time when playing HD signals. I read somewhere that interrupts may be a problem and discovered the ATI card was sharing IRQ 18 with my PVR500 card, so I moved the Hauppage over a PCI slot and they aren't sharing IRQ's anymore.

I still get choppy/jumpy HD signal display.

Any ideas? I thought my system specs would be enough to play HD signals without *too* much trouble, maybe I'm wrong? Specs: Sempron64 2800+, 1 GB PC3200 @ autodetect timings, Ti4600 video displayed to TV over VGA port (latest nvidia driver installed as of sunday night), MSI 8KMM-V MB, using onboard sound, onboard gigabit is enabled but unused, Asus USB 802.11G wireless adapter stick, Firefly remote, 30 GB internal OS/Apps drive, external 250 GB USB 2.0 HD....

Still haven't gotten to a proper setup in GB-PVR, I figure I need to address this first....

OK...

Here's a big "duh". Ti4600 doesn't support DX9 in hardware so I replaced it with a FX5200 and now HD plays perfectly smooth on WatchHDTV and ATI MMC. Got some channels added using TSReaderLite (thanks bigbus). However, Live TV via GBPVR is skippy and stuttery with both audio and video....

I know I'm a PITA but any help is appreciated... thanks in advance.

This will most likely come down to the video renderer and video decoder you're using. Most HDTV users end up using the Overlay renderer.

All of sudden the DTV application that came with the card cannot initialize the overlay system. GBPVR can, but the DTV application can't. I am about to reinstall, but I was just wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this. It was working great and now all of a sudden it doesn't.

My system specs are:

Athlon 2200xp, Nvidia GE440MX, Audigy Sound and a ATI HDTV wonder capture card.

I also wanted to post a thanks to bigbus for the howto on manually inputting the tuning parameters.
