I hooked up the 6 channel audio from my Asus P4S800D-X motherboard to my surround sound setup, it works just fine for games and the windows media player, but I can't get it to work in gbpvr, it only works out of the front left and right speakers and not the rear or subwoofer speakers, It's probably an easy fix with a driver or setting or something......

Please help......

Thanks

Probably the first thing you should do is check that your specified DVD decoder is set to output 5.1 - ie if you have selected the Intervideo Audio Decoder in the gb-pvr config, you should start the Intervideo application (WinDVD?) and make sure it is set to pass the audio directly out to an external decoder via SPDIF (I assume) rather than doing any mixing itself.

this is all I have in the gbpvr config in the dvd and remote tab

---navigator---
dvd navigator
cyberlink dvd navigator (pdvd6)

---video decoder---
cyberlink video/spdecoder

---audio decoder---
ac3 filter
mpeg audio decoder
cyberlink audio decoder
intervideo noncss audio decoder
nero digital audio decoder
ffdshow audio decoder

---audio renderer---
soundmax digital audio
cyberlink audio renderer (pdvd6)
default direct sound device
default waveout device
directsound soundmax digital audio

I don't have a 5.1 output......I'm not sure how to add it in......

thanks

As your DVD decoder is listed as the cyberlink audio decoder, that is the decoder where you should first make sure that the settings are correct. You should check the audio settings from the cyberlink DVD player (PowerDVD?) There should be an option to change the sound settings there.

You should also check the AC3 filter settings (should be a config link in your start menu, or search for ac3config.exe) and make sure that "use SPDIF" is ticked on the main panel if you are using SPDIF to connect to your surround sound amp.

well, I set it all up as you said but I got nothing but silence within gbpvr, but the windows environment seemed to work fine along with winamp and media player....

and I am using SPDIF for the audio......

thanks

Do DVDs play with 5.1 audio if you play them in powerDVD?

ok, I played around with it some more and I just set in gbpvr to use system default and it seems to be working, although it didnt work when I set it so use cyberlink......strange, maybe cyberlink isn't what my system is using, I can tweak the soundmax digital intergrated audio and it seems to change the windows settings, but I did run a DVD through the cyberlink player and It did work fine......

thanks
