Does installing quicktime not allow this for you?

Nope, quicktime installed (probably even before gbpvr).

I have tried divx codex, with no luck. The messed, on the other hand, up my HIP setup so I've replaced them with MediaCoder codecs instead.

Do I need to use the QuickTime preferences to set QuickTime to the preferred encoder for i.e. .mp4 and .mv4 to get gbpvr to understand which codecs to use? Since I'm a mac geek in life and profession this is a very strange world for me (I love GB-PVR, but I disrespect my PC :-)
(I will try this later on, my wife's using it right now)

Thanks for a kick in the right direction.

If that does not work for you, is there a way to get Windows Media player to play the mp4 files? I don't have any on my machine so i'm not sure if this is possible, but if it is I assume GBPVR would be able to play them if windows media player is set as the default program to play mp4's.

Again, I could be wrong Wink

No, WMP won't play the files since they have AAC audio.

The QuickTime thing must be the solution. Just need to figure out how Smile

I'll get back if I figure it out.

Thanks for your help.

Perhaps ffdshow will do the trick, it does have a aac decoder.

Yeah, I think ffdshow will be able to decode this.

You'll also need to install the 'haali splitter' from http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/

Problem solved!

Together with the Haali Media Splitter, ffdshow did the trick.
ffdshow alone, did however not work...

thanks a lot for all help

The funny thing was that after trying to set QT to default decoder made GB-PVR numb after turning it off. Where do you see which decoder is default (and in use)?
DivX and ffdshow has the ability to show when it's in use, but I'm more into a command or application that shows which decoder is set for each media type... if someone knows please let me know.

I installed the haali splitter, but I still cannot get sound for my MP4s?
Is there a setting that I may be missing?
Thanks

If you play try to play the file in Windows Media Player, do you get audio? If not, then you probably dont have a compatible audiod decoder installed.
