i have digital cable from cox communications. The cable goes in to the tuner(cable box) and I use the S video out to go to my PVR 350. When i try to record something no matter what channel i select in the tv guide to record it records whatever channel my cable box is currently on.

Is there any way to fix this or get around it so that it will record the correct channel?

Is it because i have digital cable?

The SVideo cable only carries the signals for the one channel your box is currently on, so it sounds like its working correctly. The SVideo cable cannot be used to tell the cable box to change channels.

You can add an IR Blaster to your machine (RedRat3, USB-UIRT or Actisys IR200L), which will allow GB-PVR to change the channel your cable box is on when it needs to switch to another channel.

Edit: Saw another post that implies I need to use an
external app to achieve the reult I am after...is this
correct?

Greetings Sub,

I too have digital cable, I currently have my tivo driving it
via a tcl hack that enabled the serial control built into the
tivo software. Is there anyway through plugin or the GB app
itself to control the set top box?

I understand that many subscribers can't use this feature
because it requires:
A. Your box actually has the serial hardware
B. Your provider has enabled it
C. The rev of the proms in the set top box support serial control.

For me this is a must because of bad experiences with blasters.

I have the Motorola DCT2000 with working serial control.

You can do it two ways.

- Using the girder plugin, which send channel change request to girder, which can then be configured to use the serial port to control you set top box.
- Using the .exe plugin, which executes a command of your choosing each time GB-PVR needs to change channels. Its up to you to find a command line program that will do the job for you.
