Hi

I have been having problems viewing live TV on a client PC for quite a while. Today I decided to fix the problems and made a clean install of GB on both the Server and client PC's. The same situation continues

Streaming is set on the client system. when I open live TV all works. Then I change channels up or down and at some point the GB freezes and stops responding. The only way to get back is to kill the application. In most cases it will happen on the second or third channel change

I tried file sharing but Live plays in slow motion very choppy not viewable at all. Changed channels about 20 times and did not freeze once

I don't think it is a decoder issue as recordings playback without problems

Please see logs attached

Anyone got any ideas i have been working on this for hours now

mine works same way...channel changes lock it up....
try stopping before changing channels, works fine...
sometimes mine loads new file for new channel, but freezes right there..
maybe the pause when entering timeshift is doing it?
[cuz in this case it's not starting timeshift, just changing channels, but that starts playing of new timeshift file...it's somewhere there in the transition between]

this is on a fresh client install, also on my live client cd..

Why dose the file sharing not have this problem. I can change channels may times without a lock up but plays in slow motion. I do not really mind using either

Which is the preferred option file sharing or streaming?

I'm not really sure. I've seen a couple of times myself, but not often. I intend to look into it when I find some spare time.

Hey sub...this sounds similar to my problem. When I look at transfer rates for file sharing i only get about 1 Mbps data transfer rate (which of course makes video very slow), when I stream i get about 8 Mbps data transfer rate but that means video is still choppy. In my experience, it appears that about 17 Mbps is needed for stutter free video, which is what i get when playing recordings (which play well for me).

As for the switching channels, I too experience lockups often when changing channels, though I have not seen a definitive pattern for how many times I can do it before lockup.

Jonxm05...you have been working on this for hours and unfortunately I can tell you I have been trying to fix this for days to try and get livetv working, without much successSad

I have had problems with it locking up during channel changes also. The worst was while using the nvidia decoder which would lock up on the first or second channel change. I am now using the Cyberlink(ATI) decoder and very rarely have an issue anymore. I never had problems watching recordings only streaming when I changed channels. I think this has alot to do with the decoder.

Same problem here with channel changes from the client. Though I don't believe I have seen the problem (freeze) happen ever when I've explicitly keyed in a new channel directly. It seems to be the <channel up> and <channel down> operations that cause the freeze...

version here is 0.99.12

edit: I eat my words. The client freeze just happened twice in a row after I directly keyed in a new channel number...

I have the same problem too: Live TV on a PC Client in Filesharing mode shows approx. 2-3 frames per second. The same in Streaming mode looks great. But on the first channel change GBPVR freezes and never comes back.

Playing recorded shows works perfectly.

Version on client and server is 99.12

Any ideas?
