I noticed something strange the other day. I had one programme scheduled to record and then tried to record another one at the same time (different channel of course). The second programme was scheduled to record daily, same time slot, same channel

Clearly this isn't possible for the first instance when there was a conflict but was okay for the other days. Yet gbpvr provided no error message, just didn't schedule the recording. I then changed the second recording option to Quick Record whereupon gbpvr then noted I had a conflict which I hadn't realised but was now able to correct.

Not sure if this is a bug in my setup or the way gbpvr works but it would be nice if the software provided some message as to why a recording cannot be scheduled in this situation (that is, one instance of a repeating recording cannot be done)

Occasionally there will be a conflict for me as well with two season recordings and one or both of the episodes change their timeslots... The conflict occurrs, and I miss one of the shows...

The only way to look for conflicts is either EWA or inside the Recording Panel. But you HAVE to look...

I wish there would be a better notification (with stock blue skin), maybe on the main menu telling of conflicts.

Or email notification... though I'm guessing sub won't put that in, it would have to be a third party programmer. Maybe EWA could do it?

You might want to check out the rss feeds that are available now on EWA. One of the feeds is recording conflicts.
There is a thread on rss feeds that might help you.

Video Archive screen saver also warns about conflicts on schedule.

Although I too have noticed some conflicts that weren't reported as conflicts in the "conflicts" page of the regular GBPVR, it has only happened occasionally and I am still trying to think of a logical reason why. In one instance, the conflict was shown but when I clicked on resolve conflict to see what shows were conflicting, I couldn't decide which one to cancel. When I checked the next day, the conflict had disappeared even though the pending menu still showed both shows being recorded at the same time.

The reason for my post is to clarify whether the earlier posts in this thread are looking for something more than the conflict panel which is supposed to show the conflicts in the recording menu (i.e. a desire to be notified at the time of scheduling) or if it is a case that the conflict menu itself is not showing the conflicts that are there (a probable bug that wasn't there in earlier versions of gb-pvr). If so, does it happen all the time or just occasionally (which is what happens for me)? Would there be a difference if you set the recording for some shows in EWA, some in Showsearch and some in the TV menu and some in the regular search menu -i.e. would there be less chance that the regular conflict message would work correctly if you recorded all shows in the same way?

The issue I have is, I don't have an automatic feed for my programme information - it's more of a web site scraping process :-( So nothing like RSS to tell me that I have a conflict.

1. I have a programme to be recorded at a specific date/time
2. I schedule another programme for a daily or weekly occurrence where the first instance of the programme overlaps 1. So there is one conflict. But rather than note the conflict, gbpvr won't allow me to schedule the second programme - that is the programme cell in the TV Listing doesn't go red

3. Now schedule one instance of programme 2 - gbpvr pops up an error message saying there is a conflict and to choose which one?

Now I know what's going on I understand what to do but it was a trap for unwary players and perhaps gbpvr could notify of any potential conflict

There is a skinning option in the next release that could be used to show the users something on the main menu in the event of a conflict.

I havnt actually added anything to show in the blue skin, because I could think of anything nice looking.

I would hope that some of the other guys can think of something neat to add to the default blue skin. It would be a nice touch

How about this.
On the main screen when you scroll through the recording soon info, could you add check conflicts if there are any conflicts and change the color of the recording soon info to a different color?
