I'm having trouble getting the computer to wake up from sleep. This has worked before, and I'm sure it does work from time to time. I have downloaded the utility :

http://www.passmark.com/products/sleeper.htm

Which seems to imply everything is setup for wake up, and running sleeper, puts the pc to sleep, and it wakes up no problem 30 seconds later. GBPVR is having trouble to wake it up though...any ideas?

Sorry, I dont really have any suggestions for you. I just call a Windows API to tell it the time I'd like the computer to wake, and Windows and the PC take care of the rest. This works for nearly everybody, but a small number of people have problems with it, which I put down to their motherboard not being 100% ACPI compliant.

There isnt any GB-PVR settings that you can tweak.

The funny thing is this worked before. I have tried to look at the windowsupdate.log, and this has no indication that a wake up event was sent. The only wake up event is the manual ones I send.

I wouldnt expect them to be listed there.

The wake up requests are not actually logged.

I'm sorry, but I really dont think this is a GB-PVR problem. This functionality hasnt been changed in over two and half years, and has worked reliably over this time. It is only one very simple line of code that calls a Microsoft API each time a recording is scheduled.

I don't doubt you, and I also don't think this is something directly to do with GB-pvr, but something in conjunction with it is stopping the wake up. the Sleeper utility I mentioned above has no problem waking up the pc...

Also, I have Media Center on the same pc, and that wakes up fine...

Before I get any "Why don't you use MCE then?', I'd much prefer to use gbpvr...

Sorry, I really dont have any suggestions, and I cant really see anything different I could do in the code.

Does this sleeper application use the same API call as GBPVR? If not, the fact that sleeper wakes the PC doesn't really mean anything.

I was having problems with my PC not going to standby on its own, which was resolved by updating the BIOS. I would think this could be a similar cure for a refusal to wake up.

Worth a shot?

Good point I guess...but if this sleeper function...and Media Center are not using the same API call, but work, perhaps gbpvr is using the wrong one? I know its possible make the pc sleep and ignore wake up calls, so perhaps my manual sleep is calling the systemsleep with an ignore wake parameter. Having said that, Media Center is not ignored.

Well, I'm having a similar issue now. I finally got around to testing the ability to wake from S3 standby to record. For me, it doesn't work. I'll find the PC somewhat awake, if that means anything. The fans are running, but the monitors are off. If I press a key on the keyboard, everything wakes up. Records are all marked as FAILED.

Maybe this means the auto-wake is working, but something is preventing it from completely waking?

It is interesting that both this sleeper app and Media Center can both wake up your PC whereas GBPVR does not. Not saying that GBPVR is using an incorrect call, but knowing Microsoft there are probably several methods for automatically waking.
