sub Wrote:No, there is no plans for this to happen. Portions of GB-PVR are used in a different product.

This new arrangement actually happened back in May 2005, so nearly two years ago now.

I have to say that I was shocked to read of GB-PVR's affiliations. I suppose I didn't read the old site too well (or maybe it wasn't there)

I'm confused. Parts of GB-PVR's code is used elsewhere, other engineers help you, and GB-PVR is owned by Wellton...

I really thought it was all your baby. (Though I always suspected you had gnomes working with you).

I remember seeing some posts of screenshots of a media PC solution on these forums within the past year and users were commenting on striking similarities with gbpvr. It must have been welltonway but I can't find those posts. Does anyone else remember those posts?

Is it just me or does the whole welton way thing feel like some mysterious, lost-esque, dharma... I looked on the site, and some things about end users and front users and machines from sweden...

Congrats on the new look... though i'm much more of a conservative than i thought, i already have nostalgia for the old site--though i do believe i was the one who suggested sub start a blog about a year ago, and looks like we're almost there!

I kind of like the look of the Wellton Way MMC. EPG not available for the US though. Also, I like the fact that I can tinker with GB-PVR (to the extent that sub allows) Big Grin

sub, do you think Wellton Way would be ok with a skin that mimmicks their MMC front end? I would not want to bite the hand that feeds... Wink

Frankly speaking, even if Sub charges $$$ for GBPVR, I will still go after it (well ... it also depends on how much $$$). It is just giving me a wide range of options on how I would like my media centre runs in an easily configurable way. I did try some other media centre software, but nothing like how well GBPVR suits me.

I did contribute from time to time, treating it like a software lease (though I always think I should be more regular and I will certainly work on it).

Wellton Way is certainly good, as it has the GBPVR genes. But as Sub mentions, GBPVR will always be for the technology more advanced bunch. What we have suggested will gradually go into Wellton Way.

It's a brilliant way of using and contributing to the open source community and htpc enthusiasts. People spend a tremendous amount of time contributing ideas, plugins, skins, testing etc... and in exchange we get a great product uniquely suited to our needs and tastes. For the price of one (superman) developer they get market trends, some reusable code, a beta testing community... Probably not a model that can be repeated by many others since it revolves around finding a guy like sub.

The picture most people have had is pretty accurate. To date, I've written every line of code in GB-PVR myself. My 'sub' user account is still me, and I answers all these questions myself. The gbpvr website and forums are hosted on my own servers, paid for out of my own pocket etc...

Wellton Way have helped me out in lots of other areas though.

Some of us who read almost every post caught a Wellton Way support post so this wasn't news to me. Good to hear everything is working out for you sub.

Sub, I hope you know that I appreciate you, your efforts and your Application.

I suppose I worry about the 'other' areas. But I think I worry too much.

I'm sorry if my expression of shock was out of order...

Yeah, those Swedish Sheep are pretty tempting ... you know sub has a real problem in that area.
