This is a wierd problem that I started noticing recently during playback where (usually once in every 1 hour episode) it's like a "fast forward" for a second or two and then it works fine for the rest of the episode. I am not using GBPVR for playback when this occurs, I am playing back via VLC over a mapped drive. To see if I maybe had a network glitch, I have replayed the part and it always does the same thing again.

This happens whether I'm recording one channel or multiple channels at a time and using different STB or cards. It seems to be happening on all of my recordings regardless of which card is recording.

It's almost like something is pausing the CPU or something and the video has a hard time recording for a little bit.

The only change I've made recently is to add a second hard drive (the 300 GB, and slimm GBPVR). I did switch the video directory to the new drive, but left GBPVR on the other drive. Could there be something with about this config causing the problem? Maybe some kind of cache buffer flush or something?

Anyway, if anyone has experienced this or has any ideas, I'd really appreciate some input on this.

I'd try turning off slimm-gbpvr, see what happens, just to eliminate it.

Although this may not be your problem I noticed I was having this problem when I was doing something that caused high disk activity. If I was editing videos on the same drive while recording I would get these frequent fast forwards.

I turned off SlimmGBPVR but haven't had a chance to watch anything I recorded last night. Dark_half: thanks for the suggestion, but the system was idle for several of the recordings that I was getting the fast forwards.

Whereabouts in Dallas?

This happened to me a long while back and I noticed that Google desktop was occassionally indexing my drive. Not sure if that was it but I haven't had the problem again.
Some drives go into power down mode and then see activity again shortly after. Even spyware and virus programs can slow the drive down.
Most people look at their startup folder and find all types of programs calling home to check for updates. This one is hard to put a finger on without lots of trial and error.

I've had a stutter for months and haven't found the problem yet. It's hard to diagnose because it's usually caused by spikes in CPU usage from various programs.

Which PC did you replay the file on? The one you recorded the program on or on the PC you're trying to play the program from?

If you can play it on the recording PC (in WMP or GB-PVR) with no problem then the problem is with your streaming setup. If it plays the same on the recording PC, then there is either a problem with the hardware encoder or as others suggest, some program is preventing the continuous stream of data to be written.

I've stressed my system (high CPU and high hard drive usage) while recording shows and my 350 never missed a beat, then again I have SATA drives.

I have sata drives too and it makes no difference.

I've transferred the file locally and it still stutters. So I can rule out the network. I am experiencing the problem on all 3 capture cards, so I can rule out a capture card problem.

Turning of SlimmGBPVR didn't seem to make a difference. This is a dedicated machine, and I rebuilt it about 8 months ago. It doesn't have anything extra installed.

I'll go through and shut down all non-essential services.

Could it be the pvr-150 timestamp bug?
