Just to wrap up this thread it was indeed my DSL modem that was the culprit. It is a Westell 2100 A90Rev and it was set to PPoE connection rather than Bridged Ethernet. Changing it to Bridged and setting the router to provide PPoE allowed the router to do it's job and forward the ports. Changed the modem, changed the router and rebooted everything and voila! Had my daughter check access and we're good to go. Only downside is now my daughter wants schedule all her shows to record while she's at school!

You can always add one or two pvr 500's,

HtV, you're making my laugh , I'm already thinking about the cool system I could build with dual pvr's, etc. ahh to have unlimited time and money...

As for the wife, nothing some yardwork won't fix.


Lastly, let this be a note to anyone else trying to set up EWA, don't forget to check your cable/dsl modem as well because it could be like mine and be a router in disguise.
