The saga of Desperate PVRGeeks continues

With alternate set true and try to honour padding set true and all the reoccurring recordings in the schedule deleted and re-recreated it alternate selects from the three (yes I added one more) tuners. YipeeBig Grin .

But wait there's more. When a recording scheduled to finish at 7pm and another scheduled to start at 7pm both with 3 min start and 5 min post paddings, it uses the alternate tuners, but stops the recording and starts the next at 7pm completely ignoring the padding Grrrr

I don't want to have to schedule all the recordings manually, which will work. I went through all that in BeyondTv because I didn't have access to an EPG. However I can see an app coming on here which every day after the EPG update goes through and literally adds the padding values to the start and stop times in the Programme database becuase the programme logic does not seem to be able to do it itself.

Now sub is the concept of alternate sources with overlap padding there all the time that much of an unreasonable concept.

As I never use GBPVR for viewing live TV on the PC and only ever for scheduling recordings, maybe there is a need for a much simpler, stripped down, standalone recording engine.

I'm not grumpy just frustrated, because the potential is so tantalisingly close but seems to keep falling at the last hurdle all the time.

Given your description of it scheduling across the three tuners, but the padding not appearing at recording time, I think you should try with the following settings. Remember to clean out any existing recordings when you're testing it.
<PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>

<TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible>false</TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible>

Let me know how you get on. Having TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible set to 'false' does not mean it wont record the padding - it really just tells the system whether it should try to dynamically move the recordings between tuners when the recording is due to start. From your description, it sounds like something went wrong with this aspect.

Let me know how you get on.

No, of course its not unreasonable, and as I thought was clear from these posts, this is what GB-PVR tries to do through a couple of mechanisms. Unfortunately this doesnt seem to be working smoothly for you, but I'm not sure why.

Try the advice from my post above though. I'm pretty sure PreferAlternatingCaptureSources set to true and TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible set to false will do what you want.
