Sorry, I was a bit unclear in my wishes. I meant when transcoding a dvd to mpeg2, it would be nice to have the dvdConfused subtitle renderd into the mpg. I hope you understand..?

Thanks!

I do understand, yet ZProcess was never really designed to transcode DVD to Mpeg. (I have often wondered about the many 'lurkers' out there, and how they use ZProcess...)

Edit: this may have sounded harsh, and certainly not intended that way...

Yeah its can do a vob set, but a VOB is really an MPEG, and so I'm only downsizing the mpeg. I don't do anything else with it. Working with the DVD architecture and using its subtitles, is something I haven't a clue where to start. I haven't even gone close to working with DVDs that way...

Let me ask in a very clear way. Do you use ZProcess to view a DVD on a MVP?

No i don't just because the lack of subtitle support. I have tryed a cupple of other converters that can hadle subtitles but often gives problem with the AR instead.

Actually the subtitles is only a small issue. VOBs and DVDs are not natively supported with the MVP. They need an intermediary, and due to licensing, most are shady...

In it's current design, and design of GB-PVR, ZProcess cannot transcode on the fly DVDs or VOBs...

So subtitles is moot...

Newest version allows for positioning of subtitles (when using Mencoder)

(see signature)

You'll notice a new slider and a dark grey caption in the Transcode Rectangles...

You can slide the subtitle up and down. It's only an approximation. You may have to return and adjust. Be sure to save your settings...

Include an 'uninstall' batch file.
On the Queue tab, allow multiple selects to remove items.
Have it be a stand-alone process - personally, I just use it to do batch commercial detection/removal.

As mentioned before, I wanted to know what troubles you had when you tried to uninstall it. That way I can make a batch file that would help...

I will look into multiselect...

I will already run Standalone. If you are having trouble, let me know...

Okay, let me mess with it again. It was a while back, so I don't quite remember what the issue was. :o I've been sidetracked trying to get my DVB-S card working...

After looking at it, I think I may have missed the reference to zprocess in the config.xml. I downloaded the 987 version and I'll start playing with it. On the old version, I couldn't get transcoding to work with mencoder, and ended up somehow messing up normal transcoding to where it would stop after about 30 seconds or so.

Either way, I replaced the older version with this one and I'll play around with it. I read some postings that you finally gave up on trying to get mencoder working, so I'll give ffmpeg a shot.

I didn't give up on MEncoder. The whole subtitle mechanism and colour adjustment will only work with MEncoder.

However all three Transcoders: VLC, FFmpeg and MEncoder, act differently when trying to transcode slightly different AVIs.. (bitrate, engine, aspect etc)

All I wanted to do was stop going Overboard saying MEncoder was the be all and end all... It certainly has it's limitations, and if a transcode isn't working properly for you, then one should try a different transcoder...

So in other words, if you are having trouble with one transcoder try a different one. But don't think one transcoder is better than another. They all have their place...

Not anymore... 996 has VLC working with subtitles too. You may not be happy with the font though. It's the standard one but it seems stretched a bit. It's readable, and so I'm done with this for a while...
