Sub,

Well would you believe it but since adding the line to the registry, it's not crashed yet (many recordings completed sucessfully).

One thing I have noticed is that almost all the recordings made on the channel being recorded when the service exits go out of audio sync. (subject of a previous thread).
After several minutes of recording, the picture stutters a couple of times then restores but from that point onwards, audio sync is permanently out till the end of the recording. I'm using the Cyberlink mux (5.0.2022) as all my playback is to MVPs and I'm trying to avoid transcoding post recording.

Could there be a connection?

If the sync problem occurs in the recording not the playback, then I'd try to track down the Cyberlink v5.0.0.1307 mux, or the ATI mux. If its occurring at playback, then look at the combination of decoders you're using (or audio renderer)

I poked around the logs, and for one of the recordings that ended early, the logs show it going the complete 1hr + padding. I was hoping to switch muxes, but when I changed to the ATI Mpeg Video Decoder, I got severe stutter in the picture after I changed channels a couple of times. I then switched back to the CyberLink and that problem went away (I thought the mux was only used during recording and/or timeshift). I downloaded and ran Filmerit (could not seem to find the MuxChecker Utility) and my CyberLink Video/SP Decoder is version 6.0.1625, which seems much newer then the one originally causing issues. I am running a ATI HDTV Wonder with a ATI 1800 video card on a AMD X2 4400 system. Regards, Pete

You do realise a video decoder and a mux are two different things, with very different purposes?

Yes, and I actually may understand what the two are basically doing, after a fews days of ready this stuff... ;')

Just similar names getting the best of me. I was changing the decoder setting by accident. I have gone back and redo the trial by changing the BDA Mux setting to use the ATI version.

I will leave the Decoder setting on CyberLink and not worry about the video stutter with the ATI decoder.

The version I was getting was for the decoder, not the mux. Is the MuxChecker executable referenced somewhere in the forum?

Regards,
Pete

It's installed with GB-PVR. You should find an icon for it in your start menu.

Got it. Again my poor reading skills today. I will run for awhile and see what happens.

BTW, of the several bigname PVR packages I have tried in the last couple of months. This is by far the best, fastest and has the best support. I can not believe you have the time to do all this by yourself. Regards

Sub,

It's the recording that's out of sync.

Anyone,

Can't seem to find the 1307 version of mpgmux.ax anywhere on the net. If anyone can send me a link or pm me a copy would be grateful.

Nothing in the logs. The PSI log file seems to have been overwritten when the recording service auto-restarted so no help there Sad

Sorry, thats no good to me without the psi.log. This file gets overwritten when the card is next used, so hopefully you can back it up before this happens. You can safely restart any GB-PVR components, its only overwritten when a BDA device is used.

The recording service would not normally auto-restart, so you might want undo whatever you did to get this behaviour while you're attempting to capture this psi.log.
