Yep, should work fine.
I made it optional and disabled by default because Data Direct (Zap2It) is still having delivery problems for some people. I'm one of the people with the delivery problem.
If you don’t see any messages in I-xmltv.log saying something like “The start time (or end time) you specified is invalid”, you shouldn’t have any problems.

This is a great utility, the best addition to GBPVR IMO.

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but is there a way to tag all recurring instances of a show as "first run"?

My problem: I want to tape all new episodes of "Lost" and all new episodes of "Good Eats", but the ones tagged with a * are in the same timeslot. However, I do know that the same episode of Good Eats are rebroadcast the next day. Same new episode, but a later time slot.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

I really liked the first-run tagging and conflict-resolution algorithm of BeyondTV, but I love the openness of GBPVR.

Sorry there isn’t a way to tag a rerun as a new show (that would defeat the purpose of a new marker). But you can completely disable the new marker if you wish.
It would probably be easiest to record the rerun using the GBPVR scheduling option: “Record Season (all in this daily/weekly timeslot)”.

Or buy a second tuner.

So what should a person do if they do see the invalid message?

Just leave the incremental option disabled.
You’ll still have the message but it wont cause any problems.

Jim_ , I have been noticing some issues with some show not recording due to they are listed on my guide with out the "*". At first I just thought they were not new shows but when I look at them listed on tv guide list at zap2it.com they are really new. Like tonight Survior was new and it did not start to record it but CSI after it is new and it is on the list to record it. Are there any logs or places I can look to see what is going on? I tried reloading I-xmltv lastweek but still no luck.

The easiest way to check a listing for problems is by looking at the subtitle and description in gbpvr’s guide. If Zap2It provides the Original-Air-Date (used to calculate the new marker) the date they give will be in the description or subtitle. If needed, you can also see the original zap2it provided data by looking in xmltv.xml.

I just checked and (as expected) survivor fiji didn’t have any Original-Air-Date information. The network or zap2it didn’t provide the date for whatever reason. Some networks are just sloppy and it may be easiest just to schedule new and reruns for that show. "Rockstar" did the same thing and I bet they are on the same network.

Reloading is a common fix with windows based apps, but I-xmltv was compiled using a pre-windows language. Reloading should never be needed unless you’re hard drive fails, you accidentally enter invalid information in the ini, or hell freezes over.
Basically, it either works properly or you wont see anything (at all) in the guide.

Have I missed it ?

I found this plugin, and wonder if it can be used to add in a feature that would help me out.

Currently in the TV listings, it does not have any indication as to what shows are in HD and what are not. I know that the data is there in Zap2it, but it not carried across to gbpvr's tv guide.

Your program goes in and checks if the show is new or a repeate. I wonder if you can use the same method to check if the show is flagged as being HR or not.

Just a thought. Any input would be appreciated.

There’s a “Program Locations” section in UpdateEPG.bat if you want to try a different location.
But the recommended, default, and -tested- location (for both xmltv and I-xmltv) is in the root.

I was looking into adding an HD indicator at one time but stopped when Data Direct (zap2it) changed soemthing and started having some delivery problems about 6 months ago.
The xmltv version I use (the link provided in the zip), is an older version that works best for most people, but IIRC it doesn’t provide HD information.

The weather’s getting nice so I won’t be looking into changing anything with I-xmltv until next winter. Unless my guide stops downloading or something.

I just came to a conclusion (that I hope I am wrong about) but it seems that a new program indicator (*) is getting used by gbpvr as part of the program name. It is messing up the file names of the programs. Is this something I try and get resolved here or in the main gbpvr support forum ?

GBPVR drops the special character and the leading space when it writes the filename.
Example, “M*A*S*H *” would have the filename “MASH.mpg”

Probably best to ask in the support forum, but I will watch for the post to see if it is something on my end, or something I can help with.
