I was hoping there would be a video archive.db3 file there too. I am going to post a new version later this week. Maybe that will (somehow) fix your problem too.

Are you running Vista? I beleive it does file caching and it's probably using a cached copy of the database.

Hi Jeff,

Sorry, I just caught that you specified D:\GBVPR. Since I ran into this problem, I removed GBPVR and installed to the default folder. I'm experiencing the same problem even after the reinstall. The DB3 file I deleted was in the 'gbpvr' root before I ran the DB update command.

I appreciate you looking into it. I'll see if the next release helps. It seems like such a simple problem. It builds the recorded shows list, but it doesn't build the DVD list till I rip a DVD. Gremlins. :mad:

I've tried installing the Access version, then upgrading. Same problem.

If you'd like to download a recent copy of the Logs and DB, they are zipped up here.

Anyway, can't wait to try out the next version!

Thanks again Jeff,
Mike

Hi Jeff,

Some more info. After I ripped the DVD, it picked up the 1 DVD I ripped since I reinstalled. It didn't pull the DVD's I had already ripped, like it did with the TV recordings list. File path is correct in the config.

I'm guessing that it is also supposed to rebuild the DVD list like the TV recordings?

Figured I would pass it on if it helped pinpoint where the issue may be.

Thanks,
Mike

It is supposed to pick up DVDs dynamically, just like recordings. If you press F11 (GO on the remote) it will force a rescan, which should pick up the DVDs that you ripped earlier.

I have posted a new test version to the wiki site. See http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...tcount=103 for a description of its features. Can you install and try this version?

Hey Jeff,

Tried the install. Same crazy problem. But this time it's not even populating the recordings list.

I think the problem may be with the DB creation. I have wiped the machine clean and installed WinXP Pro. Fresh gbpvr install, as well as your latest test version of Video Archive.

I noticed that when the install was finished, DB size was 0k. I thought that was a bit strange, so I wiped it out and ran the 'convertvadatabase' command, and got the below response:

C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr>convertvadatabase
SQLite database already exists; exiting
Error executing command ALTER TABLE ArchiveTable MODIFY SeasonNumber TEXT NULL
System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException: SQLite error
near "MODIFY": syntax error
at System.Data.SQLite.SQLite3.Prepare(String strSql, SQLiteStatement previous
, String& strRemain)
at System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteCommand.BuildNextCommand()
at System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteCommand.GetStatement(Int32 index)
at System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
at ConvertVADatabase.Program.UpgradeSQLiteDB()
Error executing command ALTER TABLE ArchiveTable MODIFY EpisodeNumber TEXT NULL
System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException: SQLite error
near "MODIFY": syntax error
at System.Data.SQLite.SQLite3.Prepare(String strSql, SQLiteStatement previous
, String& strRemain)

at System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
at ConvertVADatabase.Program.UpgradeSQLiteDB()

C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr>

I then checked the DB3 size, and it was 0k. So it created the file again, just put nothing in it.

Would you be able to send me a blank DB? That way we'd know for sure the DB creation is having a problem on new installs.

Attached are the logs and DB file.

Thanks,
Mike

Can you search your disk with the windows search utility for *.db3 files and make sure you don't have a copy of the video archive database somewhere. I'm not sure why it isn't working for you but seems to be fine for others.

One other question, do you have the old video archive.mdb file and, if so, what directory is it in?

Hi Jeff,

No extra DB3 files.

Also, no MDB files.

Thanks,
Mike
