Stream Now

I have just upgraded to latest version after running for over 14 months without a single issue - suffered from the "if it isnt broken" effect... I was doing some machine maintenance and upgraded to new version.

The new version is excellent and I like a lot of the new features. One I spotted was the "Stream Now" in program info. Excellent! I use a mac for main workstation and this works fine using VLC for the asx file from firefox. My query is the quality ... the stream is quite low bitrate. VLC reports an input bitrate of 340kbps and a stream bitrate of around 200kpbs. Playback works fine ... even stops when the program ends on EPG. It is a bit blocky though and as I have 1gbps LAN I was looking to increase the rate.

However I cannot find anywhere to do this! I have looked around the config, config files and searched forums but cannot see how to change it. Can this be done and could anyone point me in the general direction?

Hmmm ... feeling stupid!

Missed the config option on the web interface ...! Now sorted and have set the stream to 720x480 LAN speed and it is awesome! MAC now playing perfectly.

I had previously played with JTVLAN and GBPVR function now replaces everything!

A few thoughts ....

A different stream speed and setting depending on where the stream is going could be nice. I could imagine LAN if the request comes from local LAN and WAN if it comes from outside the LAN.

Ability to change program without breaking stream would be great ... sort of like a channel changer web interface.

I know a lot of this can be done from the network client but it is Windows only ... I was thinking of something on Mac or devices such as PSP or Nokia N800

The work on EWA has been awesome. As GBPVR was so reliable I had put off upgrading for a while - it did what I needed and worked well. Since upgrading the changes I have seen are extensive and have added a lot. The EWA is my main interface as my main GBPVR box is headless and I use web interface combined with MVPs and Dlink 520 to play recordings. I can see this being a very useful model for GBPVR and multiple stream speeds, sizes (eg. mobile phone and laptop) and continued stream over channel change would make it unbeatable!
