I've had very good results with comskip and as Eric said this one is defiantly faster. I do use comclean and retime to clean things up a bit afterwards and have had no issues. I do have to say i don't do a lot of skipping around though.

However, sometimes the intro and end credits get cut off - specifically, The Simpsons intro sequence and The Office final credits joke are always missing from my recordings. This is not a recording time issue - the original mpegs are fine.

Is there an easy way to buffer comskip so it wouldn't do this?

Many thanks for your excellent work!

Please follow the instructions in

and I will have a look

I'm not sure how the windows scheduler works but in general lowering the process priority tells the scheduler to run other more important processes first and gives a smaller timeslice to a lower process priority. The end result is that there is more time for higher priority processes to run.

You should use 2359

Comskip runs already at idle priority, that is above the screen saver and below everything else. The playnice tells comskip to explicitly wait for some miliseconds after each processed frame.
It is never the CPU load that is causing problems with other programs, it only may be the disk reading load.

That's surprising that it's not the cpu load. Mine will run at almost 100% CPU, and I thought the sluggish performance was due to this.

@ Tipstir: are you sure you have comskip turned off in config-processing?

It will consume you CPU up to 100% if you don't throttle it but ALL other process do have priority above comskip.
A reason for sluggish performance could be lack of memory.
Comskip likes a lot of memory
