following are comments and questions regarding a setup of gb-pvr (latest release) with the hauppauge 150:

when selecting any menu option that goes to tv, a new "active" window pops up, thus giving me 2 windows for gb-pvr. this becomes a problem because the menu screen turns black, and the new window has the tv picture and is in focus. thus disabling me the ability to use my remote. in order to get my remote working again, i have to re-focus the now black screen.

when pressing the next button on the remote, it seems to make the volume louder. i can go back and forth between two settings of volume. not sure if this is exaclty a feature or not. seems odd to me.

i can get my remote to work only when the gb-pvr app is in focus in windows. if it isn't, my remote works on the focused app. in my gb-pvr settings, i have the setting for the remote to be forced to gb-pvr set.

is it possible to get the remote # buttons to change channels. the only way i can change channels is by going to the program guide.

is there such thing as "live tv". this might be the way the hauppauge 150 works... as in it is always capturing and thus you are always viewing a capture (hence the few second delay). but does anyone know if you can simply view a straight stream w/o it recording? i guess this defeats the purpose of the pvr software [Image: wink.gif] .

thanks in advance for anyone who responds to this. i'd love to get these issues figured out.

try using a different software decoder to remove the second window ("active window&quotWink.

to change the channel in live with the numbers, enter the channel say 13 then press the ok button to change to that channel.

you cannot watch live tv without recording it.

You can while you're in menus by using the alt-enter key combination. This doesnt work while video is playing.

This is usually a sign that you MPEG2 video decoder isn't compatible with your selected video renderer (most like CyberLink with VMR). Either try selecting a different decoder on the playback tab of the config app, or switch to Overlay instead of VMR.

Just type the number then press 'enter'. You can also press the green button (ctrl-g) to bring up the mini guide.

thank you both for the quick replies. it seems quick replies always come when i am not able to move on them. at any rate, your suggestions will have to wait til i get off of work.

on a side note, i've noticed my tv picture is a little fuzzy at full screen (1600x1200). i've tried fooling with graphedit to max out sharpness, but it still is a bit fuzzy. the picture is very sharp when i minimize the window to a smaller dimension. any ideas on this?

also:

when picking a capture device in settings/config, there is a pull down for quality and is defaulted to medium when i select the 150. i try selecting high or live tv, but it always resorts back to medium. is this selectable?

Try a different mpeg2 decoder, they all look very different.

This is not the purpose of this setting. Its intended to be used for editing each of the quality profiles. You actually select what profile to use when you schedule a recording.

ah, that makes sense.

sorry to swamp you with questions, but to end my swarm, is there a place to set total amount of space for gbpvr to use for live tv recording? ie: 40 gigs. whereas it would rewrite over old channel viewing?

how do most people deal with this? just delete old recordings manually as they go? or does gbpvr somehow clear old footage?
