The easiest cleanup is probably just to delete the gbpvr.db3 file (after backing it up), then run the config app and recreate your capture sources. After this your channel list will only consist of those new channels that have come in via your new EPG source.

Quote:All I did was change the setting from Zap2It to XMLTV, then enter the path to the XML guide file...
You can do this (just change the epg source) if the channels are EXACTLY the same. This problem has occurred for you because the names arent the same, so its assumed these are additional channels you now receive. Doesnt know the old channels will no longer be used, so cant delete them.

Afraid I'd have to reenter settings on addl tabs (other than Capture Sources), I chose to simply delete the single Recording Source that showed on my Capture Sources tab. I added back my PVR150 and set the EPG Source to XMLTV Plugin, then entered the path to the XLM file created by MceEpg2XmlTv.exe.

This got rid of the duplicate empty channel lineup when I view the TV Guide on my MVP or when running GB at my PC Smile

Now the problem is that the displayed channels do not match what I selected in GBs Config's Capture Source screen. Some channels that I unchecked appear. Others that are checked do not appear on the guide. Does this mean I have to edit my Vista's Media Center channel listing to match GB's channel listing? Or does Vista download one's entire channel lineup (I forget since I do not use MCE)...

Thanks again for all your help!!!
-Mike

I just downloaded the newest version of GBPVR, and successfully installed Yapi2xml to give me the TV guide in GBPVR. I previously tried un-successfully to configure the zap2it but never got to the stage whereI would download listings. In any case the db3 and other files should not be corrupted by two different downloads of the TV schedules.
I have the same situaton as Reedmikel. When I display the the TV schedules through the TV Guide plugin on GBPVR, I first get the full listings, but the channels are only identified by the four call leters. If you cursor to the bottom of these listings, the channels are identified by the number and 4 letters, as I selected in the xml setup, but the listings are blank.
When I call up the listings on the MVP, I get no listings but i get first the channel number, then the channel number and 4 letters that I selected in the xml setup, and no listings.
However, when I play Live TV, I get all of the stations that I selected.
It appears taht when I get no listings, the Yapi2mxl files are being used. When I get listing, they are comng from somewhere else
When I set up my EPG source in the config.app, I downloaded the listings. No idea where these are stored. When I configured the xml file in Yapi2mxl, I had to download the listings again. Are these stored in a different place? How are they called>

Same answer for you - the easiest cleanup is to just delete the gbpvr.db3 file (after backing it up), then run the config app and recreate your capture sources. After this your channel list will only consist of those new channels that have come in via your new EPG source.

Changing the EPG source can not be taken lightly. Its really complex. I made sure the change over was smooth for those using the built in Schedules Direct support, but I obviously dont test switching to these other third party EPG sources.

You're both just suffering from the same problem of having had a previous EPG source for channels, and now having moved to a new EPG source that has 'similiar but not exactly the same' channel names. Starting from an empty database is the quickest way to make sure you've got rid of the old channels created with your old EPG source.

Hi Sub - how about clicking on [REMOVE] button to delete an entire Capture Source (I only have one) - won't that delete the entire old set of channels from the old EPG source? I did not follow your advice of deleting the .db3 file as I thought I would have to renter settings from all the Config tabs...

If you get a chance could you answer my post from 3:58pm yesterday too?

Oh, and following up on what JackK said - how can we get the TV Guide to display channel numbers as well as station call letters? I could not seem to find a way to edit the channel names on the Config->Capture Sources->Edit Capture Source screen...

Any way to control the sorting of the channels displayed by the TV Guide to be in channel number order?

Many thanks!

This is probably a stupid question, but where is the file you keep mentioning named GBPVR.db3? In my main C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr folder there is only an EMPTY.db3 file... I searched all subfolders too - no other .db3 files are found. Did I install something incorrectly?

After you delete a capture source, then 'OK' out of the config app, it'll try to delete the unused channels. You may find you have recordings linked to those channels though, so these will not qualify as "unused" and will be left in the database.

PVRX2.exe will show the channel numbers if you set the following in config.xml:

<TVGuideChannelHeaderType>2</TVGuideChannelHeaderType>

Quote:I could not seem to find a way to edit the channel names on the Config->Capture Sources->Edit Capture Source screen...
You cant change the channel names. When the app receives new listings, it does this based on channel names, so if you change the names in the database then they'll no longer match the channel names of the listings in the xmltv file.

Quote:Any way to control the sorting of the channels displayed by the TV Guide to be in channel number order?
It is in PVRX2.exe.

All those settings are in the config.xml file, and would stay in place. You'd lose the capture sources, channels, listings, recordings.

You're possibly the only user using the old MSAccess MDB database (GBPVR.mdb). The default database has been based on SQLite for the last year, and is created as a file called GBPVR.db3. Most of those that had been using the old MDB database have long since run the ChangeDatabase.exe utility to switch over.

Thanks for all the answers Sub!!!

I had no clue about the change to a new database (.db3) format. I prefer to just use the software to make recordings and watch em. I am a 20+ year programmer, so at the end of the day I prefer to watch TV (using GB of course) instead of constantly checking for updates, tweaking etc Smile I don't recall the version 16 installer mentioning that I should upgrade from .mdb to .db3. So just how did the rest of the GB users find out? Hey - someone has to be last Smile

I'll try the ChangeDatabase utility and see if it helps things. I'm hoping maybe the TVListings plugin will not bomb once I convert my database...

Wish me luck Smile

One thing I just noticed after running the ChangeDatabase.exe: I had checked all 3 boxes (copy source to dest, cofig GB to use the new .db3, and update EPG). The last line in the status window said it was updating the EPG, but never report it had completed. The GUI's buttons remained at [Go] and [Cancel]. First, I would think that [Go] button should become greyed/disabled as soon as user clicks on [Go], leaving just a choice of [Cancel]... I assumed after several minutes of no HDD activity and no files showing an updated time in parent GB folder, that it must be finished updating the EPG data - so I clicked on [Cancel] and it immediately closed the window. Hope I didn't screw something up Sad

Ok, my channels were still screwy, so I took your advice and deleted the gbpvr.db3 file (after running the ChangeDatabase.exe utility). Now the channel listing looks good, except that it still only displays the station call letters in leftmost column on the Guide (ie no channel numbers appear). I did edit Config.xml and changed the one line you indicated to:
<TVGuideChannelHeaderType>2</TVGuideChannelHeaderType>
The original value was 3...

I then started PVRX2 - but Guide still displays without channel numbers. I then ran Config and updated EPG again - in case it was the one that writes the channel numbers. But I still get just the station call letters...

My list of problems is diminishing, so I really appreciate your perseverance Sub!

One other question though: how do I get all my recordings back that were lost when I ran the ChangeDatabase.exe utility? I did save a backup copy of my .mdb file...

As for the Guide not listing the channel # as part of the name: I checked the Config.ini used by MceEpg2XmlTv.exe and its display-name setting had a value of 2, which is supposed to save the channel name like "7 WABC". I then checked the actual .xml file output by MceEpg2XmlTv.exe and below is a typical station's information for all 7 of its possible display-name formats (0-6):
<channel id="28455699">
<display-name>WABC</display-name>
<display-name>7</display-name>
<display-name>7 WABC</display-name>
<display-name>WABC</display-name>
<display-name>7 WABC</display-name>
<display-name>(WABC) WABC</display-name>
<display-name>7 (WABC) WABC</display-name>
</channel>

The one I bolded above represents a display-name value of 2 in Config.ini, and we see it does include the channel number. So looks like my EPG data is being converted from Vista/MCE properly.

That means the problem is with PVRX2.exe, right? I did change the value Sub indicated from 3 to 2 for TVGuideChannelHeaderType. What else could I change or check?

As always, many thanks!
