Hi Sub,

I've a problem with Live TV on the MVP. I've a Nova-t 500 and the config is set to DVR-MS mux (Cyberlink mux installed for transcode on recordings a.s.a.p). Use Live Preview mode not ticked.

If I select live TV on the MVP, there is about a 5 second pause on the menu then is goes to a black screen for 3-4 seconds, they you get the OSD for a few seconds before the playback starts. After a time which varies between a few seconds and a couple of minutes, playback suddenly stops and you're dumped back to the main menu. If playback seems stable, changing channel also causes dropout.

Playback of live TV on the PC is fine and so is recording playback on the MVP (including playback of a recording in progress). It's just Live TV on the MVP that refuses to work. I've tried upping the MVP LiveTV pre-play as far as 5000ms but it doesn't seem to alter things.

Any ideas. (logs attached)

You can use the DVR-MS mux if you want to do live TV on the MVP. You need to be using the Cyberlink or ATI mux.

Sub,

I presume you meant "can't" use DVR-MS. When I use Live TV, the DVR-MS file appears in temp directory and Trans2mpg starts then the mpg file appears in my recordings directory and the MVP starts playing that.

Is that not the right behaviour?

For recordings I use DVR-MS and then transcode a.s.a.p with the Cyberlink mux. This seems to work fine. Tried selecting recording using the Cyberlink mux but the sound would go out of sync in the recording so went back to DVR-MS then transcode.

Hi Sub,

If the DVR-MS file is being transcoded by Trans2mvp to mpg format, why does this not work for playback of Live TV on the MVP?

I've tried going back to using the Cyberlink mux (instead of DVR-MS) but it always goes out of audio sync in recordings. If I use DVR-MS for recordings and transcode using Cyberlink, the audio stays in sync.

Is there any way to transcode the Live TV DVR-MS file using Cyberlink instead of Trans2mvp?

I either get good recordings and no Live TV or
Live TV & out of sync recordings. Sad

Yes, sorry I did mean "can't". I'm always mistyping that one. Usually I pick it up, and correct it...

Unfortunately the transcoding process, required for live TV on the MVP, expects the file to be complete at the time transcoding begins. It cant cope with the fact the DVR-MS file is still growing, so only transcodes the first few seconds before it hits the end of the file and the transcode exits.

Sorry, I cant do anything about this one.

Ah so it's not playback that's the problem but the fact the transcode is coding faster than the file is being writen so it catches up to the end of file.

Is there any way to use Cyberlink for Live TV and DVR-MS for normal recordings?

I've not found any way of fixing the loss of audio sync in recordings when I use the Cyberlink mux (and I've tried several different ones). It seems limited to specific channels so I assume it's something specific in their audio signal (or data rate)

Sorry - no, not at this stage. Maybe in a future release.

Try the ATI mux to see if it works any better for you.
