I've seen talk of video tearing on these forums, and I too am plagued by this. Could be the curse of my Nvidia card.

I noticed in the open-source Media Player Classic, there's an option:

"Lock back-buffer before presenting (may fix broken vertical synchronization)"

Under the "Playback"->"Output" menu.

Before selecting this option in MPC I had bad tearing, much like I'm experiencing within GBPVR. After selecting this option, my tearing was non-existent. I am curious if a similar option could be a solution to eliminating tearing in GBPVR without requiring the use of FSE.

Regards.

Sorry, I have no idea what that setting would be doing. Pretty much your only option in GBPVR is FSE if you find the normal renderer has tearing problems with your video card.

It is open-source, so finding out what's done is certainly possible.

I can even try looking into the source and reporting back what I find.

Ok, if you find out the general idea then let me know.

go into your video card's 3d settings and set 'wait for vertical refresh' to always on.. [it may be called something diff. but similar]
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie

Yes it is 'Vertical sync' in Performance & quality settings on Nvidia cards
Default is application controlled, so should be set to on.

Yeah, I've tried that in the past. Doesn't work unfortunately.

I've added something that might help in the next release, but I've never had this tearing problem myself so cant test it.

Sorry online, I deleted that post. I really dont want to have other projects source code posted here.

I have added an option for the next release to do something similar to what it was doing for 'Lock back-buffer before presenting' setting though, effectively just locking then unlocking the back buffer immediate prior presenting the screen. (2 lines of code)

Not a problem. Glad to hear that it was a simple addition. When do you anticipate a release? Any chance you could offer it as a patch update? I'd be willing to test it out on my system that exhibits the tearing. Thanks for all the help sub.
