Greetings

I am in the midst of trying to use EventGhost, replacement mce driver and a ms mce remote. Well it's boiled down to the replacement mce driver causing my system to lock up so I have to go back to the default driver. Everything I've read says that I will not be able to configure the buttons without it

So I'm here to see if it is possible for gbpvr to help in some way. I notice that on the DVD & Remote tab of the config tool that there are options to pick a remote.

As a first step (and possibly only step) I was wondering since gbpvr can recognize the mce remote if it would be possible for gbpvr to have some configuration of which mce remote button signals would kick off a keystroke from gbpvr. Not sure I am being clear in my request but am here to clarify points if necessary.

It is something I hope to do in a future release, but due to other stuff on my plate it probably wont be in the next couple of releases.

Selecting MCE remote in the config app causes remote button presses to be processed as a fixed set of assigned keystrokes. If you want to customize the remote, then you need to install the MCE alternate driver. I'm using Windows XP + SP2 + MCE alternate driver + Event Ghost. What are you using?

Another thing I did to make sure GB-PVR wasn't mangling keystroke events was to select Hauppauge as the remote type in config app. sub says this choice works with keyboard only.

Thats not quite what I said. I said it only expects to be receiving standard keypress messages on it's input queue...but doesnt listen for some of the other special messages are only generated by the MCE remote. The keypresses could still have originated from a keyboard or remote - for example, press 'up' on an MCE remote with standard driver will still work even though you've got the remote type set to 'hauppauge' since the MCE drivers are placing a standard 'up' keypress on GB-PVR's input queue. I've never used the alternative driver, so I cant comment on that - it might send no standard keypress messages.

I was using exactly that but I pulled back the alt driver and my system hasn't locked up since.

Sorry, brain tired and didn't recall all data correctly. I'll be more diligent to reference the original post instead of relying on my (sometimes) faulty memory.
