Did a search, and either I set the options wrong, or I really am the first to ask if GB-PVR will work with this device. Anyone who's tried this already, and if so did it work?

Thanks,
Ewan

OK, let me expand on this (since there haven't been any answers yet) - I'm looking to build a small box that would live near the TV to replace my TiVO. I'd like to start with the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-usb if that is supported as I can then use the money I would otherwise spend on a PC150 to setup a D-Link Xtreme-G network for "backing up" recorded files to my current Linux box with a RAID-5 array. Otherwise the transfer is going to be slower, and I'd have to move my drives to the new small box - and since Win XP home doesn't support RAID - I would end up either spreading stuff over several drives or splitting drives between the machines and backing up to a smaller set on the Linux system as time permits...

TIA,
Ewan

I think you need to use the USB2 which is a hardware encoder, if the USB doesn't support hardware encoding, then it isn't going to work with GBPVR.

I have the USB WINTV-PVR USB 2.0 working Great.

This is how I set it up!

In Capture Sources click Add button.

This will open the "Create Capture Source" window.

You will now see:

Source Name: Give it a name I called my "WinTV-PVR USB"

Recording Source: Should be set to "Direct Recording Plugin".

Then right beside it you will see "Settings button" click that.

This will open the "WinTV-PVR USB: Direct Recording Configuration" window.

Set it to this.......

Capture Card Type: Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB

Country: Where you live

Board Number: Capture Device #1

Source: Fixed-Channel, External Tuner

Tuning: Pick what you have "Cable" or "Antenna"

Constant Channel: 0

Now Click "OK"

Your now back in "Create Capture Source" window.

EPG Source: Should be set to "Zap2it (USA/Canada only)"

Then right beside it you will see "Settings button" click that.

Set up the account.

Now Click "OK"

Your now back in "Create Capture Source" window.

Channel Changer: Should be set to "USB-UIRT Plugin"

Then right beside it you will see "Settings button" click that.

This will open the " USB-UIRT Channel Changer Configuration"

Device Profile: Set it to "Hauppauge Remote"

Now Click "OK".

Your Done!

It works great now! [Image: biggrin.gif]

Actually that last set of steps isnt required. Thats only if you need to push channel changes out to an external set top box.

The USB (not USB2) has hardware MPEG2 encoding, but does not use the same chip as the USB2. Hence the reason I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it was even worth the time and effort to get it setup.

I assume it's a safe bet that my ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600 is not going to be supported (for recording anyway) but that I can use it for the TV-Out functionality.

Thanks in advance,
Ewan
