No, it doesnt touch them until you try to record or watch tv.

I have the latest from the mb manufacturer but I have not attempted to use the latest nVidia drivers.

I have been researching video cards, to get a pcie, since the mb is nvidia based I've been researching those mostly.

If it does then the drivers/config of the 150's would be a likely cause of the problems.

Smoker: Does it happen after a reboot as well or only when it comes out of standby/hibernate?

I do not have standby/hibernate working as of yet. Just when I've rebooted and gbpvr is starting up for the first time. I might mention that I do have the latest pvr150 drivers which might not be the wisest decision.

My settings are to start gbpvr directly into livetv. A channel pops up and system freezes.

sounds like your tuner card driver is bad, try reinstalling it

sub Wrote:The most obvious difference is the OSD doesnt look as cool with Overlay. With Overlay, it's resolution is tied to the resolution of the video, so it can look chunky. It also doesnt support semi-transparent OSD.

time out... does that mean that the OSD can use a higher resolution than 720x480 now? Big Grin

No, but it means (for example) if you watch lower resolution video avi files downloaded from the net, then the Overlay renderer will downscale the OSD to match that resolution, which can look vary chunky. VMR doesnt need to do that.

When you say freezes, do you mean the computer has to be powered down and restarted, or just the app freezes?

You aren't overclocking are you? Is the PCI bus speed in spec?
We had a machine we overclocked at work that seemed to pass all tests but would lock up occasionally. The network controller was causing the trouble and the stress tests didn't check that.

Might try one PVR150 and then the other and see if you can narrow the trouble down.

The whole kit and kaboodle.

pastro Wrote:You aren't overclocking are you?

Oh no not this system...... I was simply making reference to the fact that I stress test all my builds... old habit.

This I will keep in my back pocket because it would be work Big Grin
My system hasn''t locked up since I began this thread. It will lock on rare occassions after awhile but mostly (maybe 1 or 2 times out of 10) reboots. It just impedes me from automating a reboot. Don't want to have a regular reboot and have it lock up missing a recording.

Well if it's the whole kit and kaboodle, then it has to be os or drivers or hardware. (That narrows it down... not..)
Like most systems there is probably a lot of interrupt sharing. Did you try changing pci slots for your tuners and other cards?
