I think I have it figured out but I just need to do some tweaking. I created a new aspect ratio in the config.xml file called zoom and have been messing around witht the values to get the image to display on the full screen. If I can get it to display correctly then I will post the values that I used. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet but I think I'm getting there.

edit: Here is the custom aspect ration that seems to do the trick.

For showing 16:9 content on a 4:3 screen (square pixels), all you need are these settings:

<AspectRatioMode name="Auto" ratio="0,0,0,0" />
<AspectRatioMode name="16:9 + 10%" ratio="-0.05,0.0875,1.04,0.9041" />
<AspectRatioMode name="16:9 + 20%" ratio="-0.10,0.05,1.0909,0.9474" />
<AspectRatioMode name="16:9 + 30%" ratio="-0.15,0.0125,1.1304,0.992" />
<AspectRatioMode name="16:9 + 33%" ratio="-0.166667,0,1.1428,1" />

Pitty there is simply not a "zoom" setting, so that it would work on all content types (but in reality, I only deal with 4:3 (use "auto") or 16:9). So this is the next best thing.
