The latest update (1.8) allows to view streamed media from a DLNA server. You can now stream files off of WindowsMediaPlayer, TVersity, ORB and similar software.

I was able to stream my recordings through WindowsMediaPlayer running on my HTPC. Quality was terrible, but this was a crappy 480i test recording (source is weak fuzzy signal) on my 1080p tv set.

Nice little addon.

Hmmm....future possibilities?

Would that work through EWA?

Haven't tried throug EWA, but since that is Internet streaming, I imagine so. I did bring up the EPG and such since you asked. It appears, since the PS3 has web browser functionality, that works as well.

I'll have to play with it more and download VLC.....

I'm very interested in what you guys have found trying this. Now 2.1 firmware is out, and I'm wondering if there might be a way to use the PS3 to stream recordings from GBPVR. To me this seems like a cool idea...

To be honest, I only tried this once since my HTPC recrords off of a crapy 480i analog signal, and watching it on my 1080p HDTV is bleah. You can use the EWA with VLC and try your setup out.

I"m going to try streaming it off of TVersity (http://tversity.com/home) when I get home. I have recordings in 480i, 720p and 1080i on my HTPC. I don't know if the HD programs will work, since they are the MS-DVR (or whatever) extension, since I never got around try trying anything else.

If you set TVersity to share your recordings directory, it will stream to your media device (PS3 in your case). I've done this for quite a while. It makes a great combination. You might need a heafty PC if you have to transcode from HD to SD. MS-DVR works Ok with the proper codecs.

It took me all of 5 minutes to get it up and running, for MP3s and SD content. I did not mess with the codecs to get the HD stuff working yet. I have what's in my mind a fairly hefty HTPC, pretty close to what you have David.

The SD content actually looks better played back on the PS3 than the HTPC. I'm impressed. A little time to tinker and I'll have the HD stuff working I hope. This opens up a lot of opportunities for me!

Come to think of it, I actually used TVersity instead of VLC on my test. Its been a while, but by mentioning that, it came back to me.
