I installed GB-PVR today on my system (specs below). Everything works very well, and I'm amazed at the quality of the software you're providing pro bono. I have only one glitch, which a search of the forums indicates has been experienced by others: changing channels is remarkably slow. On average, switching takes about 6 seconds. After I hit the channel change button, within about 3 seconds I get a still image of the next channel, but no sound. Within another 2-3 seconds I get sound, and then a split second later, motion. Channel changes on the same system with WinTV2K take a split second.

Based on what I've read on the forum, I moved the live video directory to a separate physical disk from C: and disabled realtime virus scanning for that folder. I also set live TV pre-play delay to 0 milliseconds. None of these changes seemed to help the problem at all.

Is there a consensus on the cause/fix of this problem? Or is this the normal performance I can expect?

Thanks,

virusdoc

channel changing is slow in the current release of gbpvr, it will always take at least 2 seconds to change channels, but its common for this to take up to about 10 seconds.

No, still unresolved at this stage.

No. On alot of machines channel change time is around 2.5 seconds, which is about as good as I expect it'll ever get.

I think the channel changing got faster when I updated my Zap2it account to reduce the number of channels in my profile to only the ones I actually can receive on my Dish network sytem.  I didn't do any measuring, just the whole system "feels" faster.  Any chance this is real?  If so, it might help others.
