Empty recordings

Today I found that most of my recordings from last night were empty. In each case the recording showed as successful in GBPVR, the folder and file were created, but the file size was 0. This has happened to me once before. I didn't check the logs at that time, and restarting the computer fixed it. I would rather not have this reoccur again, though, so I would like to try to get to the root of the problem this time.

I examined the logs, and think this error message from the GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log to be the problem: "ERROR failed to start Conexant Graph". Looking at other threads, I found the proposed solution of adding "ENCODER_DISCONNECT_BUG=1" to the appropriate tuner entries in direct.ini. I tried this, and the next recording worked, but the following one, started while the first was still recording, failed.

I am running Windows 2000, and using a PVR-500. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Are you sure the device isnt in use by some other software?

I don't think it was in use by anything else. I had no video-related programs even open overnight. The only programs I have installed that can use the capture card (that I know of) are the WinTV tools that came with it, GBPVR, and Nero; I try to keep my PVR faily "clean". In theory there could be something else, but I wouldn't know what, unless there was some lingering process that didn't get shut down all the way.

I'm not really sure. There is no obvious cause shown in the logs.

The device being in use elsewhere would give this type of error.

another guy had similar problem i think he removed them from the tuner lists in config and re-added them
other thing to check is under hardware that there are no error codes
sometimes my pvr500 doesnt like starting but normally only on the second tuner

just came home and got the same problem, the weird thing is that the last program was recording (didn't start on the correct time but i can live with that for now)
i've also attached my logs, wasn't sure which you needed so added everything
to clarify that 70's show, house x2 didn't record (folder created but empty file)
and southpark did record something.
