Hello everyone - I am new to this and need some help. I searched around the various posts to no avail. I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 and I am running version 2313 of GB-PVR. I noticed after some experiementation that I need to start WinTV to sort of wakeup things before I can get a proper recording. In other words, if I re-bout my W2K machine and a recording is made, the resulting mpeg is corrupt.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I too am using a WIN TV PVR USB2 device with the latest GBPVR version. I also experience a similar problem. I am running GBPVR (with the USB2 device) on a dedicated machine. When I have a recording pending that I really wnat to get, I have to check first with WinTV to see if it will work. On my day-to-day stuff, I don't really worry about it. However, most of the time I don't get anything recorded. The missed recordings just show up as files of 0 Bytes.

I believe I had read on a different forum that this problem may be related to the USB 2.0 connection. Other users who had their PVR USB2's lock up cited good performance when connecting with USB 1.1. Of course high quality video degrades. I think somone mentioned the quality of the USB cable or the physical port on the PC might have something to do with this problem. I mention this just to see if it jogs anyone's memory.

Do you guys ever put your machines into standby? I've heard about problems with the device not functioning 100% after waking from standby. In this case, WinTV seems to work some magic to make it go.

BTW - Using WinTV to "reset" the PVR USB2 does not always work for me. Sometimes I need to power cycle the PVR USB2 to "clear" up the problem.

Hello, somewhat "glad" to see that I am not the only one with this problem. My machine is always on - 24/7.

I've been checking other forums (SHSPVR and Hauppauge UK) and have found that many people are having similar problems. Hauppauge doesn't seem too interested in doing anything about it. From what I can glean from other's comments is that the PC's USB 2.0 port is the culprit. Some people have tried different USB 2.0 cards with varying degrees of success.
I wish there were a way of resetting the device or the port via a command. Then we could just reset prior to starting each recording.
