I've just got home to find that the GBPVR Recording service has crashed. The Status window from the tray icon shows the last two recordings it would have been making, which were last night (almost 24 hours ago). The GBPVR GUI was in a funny state just displaying a blue diagonal stripe effect that I can't find in any of the normal GUI pages... At least one of the two recordings appears to have been truncated, although I couldn't say how much by, and the other recording returns you to the Recordings screen the moment you hit Play.

The recording service has normally been running for ages when it crashes like this, and I notice it's memory usage does seem to increase over time.

I've zipped up the GBPVR & recording service's logs & -native logs. The only thing that looks odd to me is the memory write exception in the recorder log. I also get a load of conversion scheduling stuff, even though I don't run any conversions or commercial detection - is that normal?

Sort of samething happened to me.

See thread

Have you checked windows event viewer to see if its thrown up any errors? maybe worth a look.
Its in control panel, administrative tools.

Hope it helps

Looking at the output from a more recent crash, GBPVRRecordingService.exe crashed due to a "fault" in PsiParser.ax. The problem you were having was a buggy MUX, as I understand it, whereas I think PsiParser is responsible for EPG, captioning, etc, isn't it?

Thanks for the tip - no crashes so far!

I think something's happened to my aerial so that my Freeview reception's not 100% all the time - every so often I lose the EPG for some channels. So the possibility that PsiParser was getting confused by bogus data seems likely.

Bobins, when you updated the old psiparser.ax, did you just delete the old and copy the new one in its place, then restart the service?

I've done just that, the recording service no longer crashs. But I no longer can scan for channels on my NOVA T 500 card unless i copy the old file back.

I also get lots of errors in the event log

I seem to remember I just swapped the file and re-booted. I did have to apply a Microsoft patch that Sub pointed me to but the error I was getting wasn't the same as yours. Check the whole PSIparser thread for the info.

My GBPVR install is the latest version with all the current patches applied. I'm using Nova-T 500 and haven't seen that error.

This error is because you didnt update the Microsoft runtime libraries, so its unable to load the .ax file. There was a link provided in that thread somewhere.

I've installed the new PsiParser.ax, along with the Microsoft patches and haven't seen the recording service crashes I was seeing since then.

The entire PC reset itself randomly last night, after which the recording service wouldn't start, until I'd switched the thing off for a bit and re-run the GBPVR config application (without changing anything). I think that might be the latest Nova-T 500 drivers being iffy, though.

I'm still seeing the weird behaviour where the GBPVR.exe loses it's UI, or closes randomly, usually when it's been in screen-saver and you click on it with the mouse. Don't suppose you guys have seen that?
