Looks to me like the API was intended for use with the Yahoo software. I bet if they found out it was being extracted any other way that they would have an issue with that. I really should someday learn to code in another language than Clipper. (dos database language)

Yes, that is absolutely the case. All you can do is hope they need to leave the interface running to support existing applications that have legitimate access to the data.

I assume you're talking about the thread view count. Its probably the same 200 users viewing the thread over and over rather than 14,000 users.

Well do what you can to save EPG data otherwise GBPVR would be good for playback purpose only well for the USA market.

There is already tons of people working on methods for getting xmltv files, so I dont think anyone needs to worry. There will definitely be listings after zap2it.

I don't plan on writing an app to download the data. The Yahoo Go for TV is a free download for now and the files are saved in the clear text then imported into a SQLite 2.1 database. The clear text files are not deleted until the next update, and even then the old ones are just overwritten.

If you have the app installed it will download the data for you (the way it is supposed to happen). I plan on writing an app that will just read the downloaded data convert it.

I recommend using the XML DOM as detailed here. It takes care of writing all the appropriate tags.

That's what I figured. Plus why bother taking the time to write a downloader when there is already one for free. No point in reinventing the wheel, right?

Yes it is for Vista (Home Premium and Ultimate) and MCE only. They do not have to be running on the GB-PVR machine though. As long as you have either on one machine in the house, you can get the data.

Wouldn't that be a big assumption and make this solution quite limiting ?

I know I won't have vista on a machine in my house until AT LEAST the first sp. As for MCE I'm a little surprised anyone would install that considering the built in DRM.

Where does it store the data?
Maybe I was just being dence that night, but I couldn't locate it.
also, do you have to start the yahoo interface to update or does it do it in the background?
