But you might have problems to download the listings. I just tried from the Bahamas. Downloading and installing the Yahoo software was ok, but downloading the listings is US-only.

Ok I loaded it, configured it and ran it. Here are some things I found:

They get their listings from Zap2It.
Does a 13 day EPG download.
There seems to be a couple of directories where EPG data is held:

1. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application\Data\Yahoo!\Go\TV\library\tv\temp\listings.1.2007-06-25-13-12-46.mlt and listings.1.2007-06-25-13-12-46.mlz

2. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Yahoo!\Go\TV\library\tv\listings.dat

If the yahoo app is running GBPVR can not use the tuner. This will really suck because I think you have to have Yhaoo set to "record in background" to get teh aut EPG updates. With that running, GBPVR can't use the tuner.

Can't find how EPG downloads are scheduled and when they run.

It looks like this will work if we can get an XML scrape of teh data that yahoo downloads.

Anyone having any luck with that?

Are there any companies offering a subscription to an EPG?

If so, any reason why this couldn't be implemented in GBPVR like Zap2It was? Like, "if you have a subscription to Company X, choose that in the setup menu and enter your credentials." Or is that where you, Sub, has to pay to implement this feature into your software? Cuz, I'll gladly pay a monthly fee to get EPG updates if it means I don't have to install another plugin/peice of software that complicates my PVR.

Just something to think about. I'm probably unlike alot you in that my household actually uses the PVR as a frontend for the TV in my living room. If the TV is on, we're watching thru GBPVR. When it doesn't work it's frustrating as hell for everyone. The less things that need to be installed and configured seperately, the better.
MY PVR:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Hardware: Silverstone LC13-E, Athlon II 250, Asrock 785GMH, 2GB Corsair RAM, 250GB WD HDD, 1TB WD Black, Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE tuner (s-video to Dish STB), HDHomeRun (ATSC x2), MCE2004 for Rx, USB-UIRT for Tx, Sony VL600 Remote, 36" Sony Wega HD CRT on DVI to embedded ATI HD4200.

OK, time to work a little more at my solution using titantv. I not as fast as other developers from here because I work on my pet projects only if there is nothing else to do here at the office.
So far i created/tested all the objects needed to connect to the titantv's soap interface.
For anyone interested, attached is the source code for the imported soap services (I'm using Borland Delphi).

I have a question, I don't see in the xmltv file format example where the rf channel will go, can someone tell me please?

Thanks,
-ioan

If such a company begins licensing such listings and making them available for apps at a relatively low monthly cost, then I certainly will consider making this option available in GB-PVR.

If you set the channel id to a number, then GB-PVR will populate this as the preferred channel number which will in effect be the rf channel number.

(I'm referring to the the id="" attribute on the <channel> tag, aswell as the matching channel="" attribute on the <programme> tag)

My Avermedia 150D was recognized just fine.
I'm pretty sure most people using GBPVR would have the appropriate card allready.

though I see this being a problem if someone doesn't want the yahoo software on thier GBPVR machine & just want to import the data.

There is a service call TV-Now that you can download 1 month of data from. It costs $30 a year. I downloaded the free program but it looks cheezy. I am not sure if we can get to the data or not. You can get a test download of data by e-mailing them. It is part of the TV-Guide family. Here is a link. http://www.tv-now.com/whatis.htm

$30/year seems like a reasonable price to me. However, if I'm paying for the data, I'd be pickier about availabilty, accuracy of listings etc.
