I worked on a vb6 system to help you select the listings. You enter your zip, it pulls providers. No need for yahoo's program this way, esp since they'll have to leave the api up Smile
I thought about going that route but by letting the Yahoo api do it, they see it as their app downloading the data. Less chance of them closing the data stream this way.

-Oz- Wrote:I was gonna make it get the file and parse it but if you guys are already that far or want to pass to me the location of the meedio plugin so i can figure out what all the stuff is that'd be great.
I used the following as a starting point. It is VB so you'll be a step ahead of me since I had to convert to C# before I could start doing anything.

pastro Wrote:Sure, I'd be interested to take a look if you want to send it along. Seems like you will need to have a supported tuner card and run the app while you are updating the epg. Is that right?
Any thoughts about spoofing the app and just downloading the data directly?
You will need to have a supported tuner card in order to set up the EPG listing. When installing the Yahoo app, tell it not to run in service mode though to keep it from actually running. Using the code I have, it references the needed dlls and runs the update without actually starting the Yahoo app. I use the plugin API but it is actually a standalone program.

By the way, you can add support for additional cards easily. You can open any of the .mtv-graph files in "C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Yahoo! Go for TV\tv\graphs" and see the config for that card. It is similar to the direct.ini and bda.ini files.

Pastro, I'll add some comments to the code and send it to you. As long as you know how upset I will be if you complete it before I do and I have to spend my time actually using my HTPC Rolleyes

I am new to this forum but just read through this entire thread and just wanted to let you know that many people have confirmed that the data is downloaded even if you do not configure a tuner card!

H34t.
It is if you go directly to the websites that I posted earlier in this thread, but I'm trying to go through the API for everything. As I said, it's easy to add tuner card support. None of my tuners were supported and I was able to add them all except for the HDHomeRun.

Yea, Yahoo Go TV has the most potential and I feel we should use their API.
That way we can legitimately install it and use it, and it downloads listings that are saved to disk.
And there’s a good chance it wont be going away soon.

For anyone (sql script writers) who want to look at what’s there.
Rename Listingsl.1.dat to listings.db3 and open it with SQLite Administrator.
http://sqliteadmin.orbmu2k.de/
Click on the “edit data” tab and select “program_details” from the “Table” list.
At first glance I thought I was looking at the gbpvr database. Smile

I’m guessing several people on this board could write a script to export the needed data strait into the gbpvr database, or an xmltv compatible file if needed.

Thanks Jim, I tried to open the database with another SQLite program but it kept telling me it was corrupt or needed a password but I didn't think to rename it. I have access to it all through the api now though but that info is still great to know.

I've been trying to figure out a way to add multiple lineup support and that may help me.

Dont get too excited about this one. If you have Y! service running (even just in the background waiting to do a daily EPG update) GBPVR can't connect to the tv card. Been there done that, removed Y! Go TV from my PC. Try it, you'll see what I mean.

You have to install the Yahoo software without configuring a tuner card. Then you can download the listings and it won't lock your tuner cards. At least it worked for me.

It wouldn't let me download EPG unless I configured a card.
It seems it does it for some users & doesn't for others?
