This tag is usually not present in an xmltv file, so GB-PVR doesnt even bother to look for it. It can use some alternative formats though, like zap2it format common in north american xmltv files, for example:

<episode-num system="dd_progid" ="SH809154.0000"/>

Again not sure if you can answer this then how does gbpvr determine all the shows that are part of a series? Does it just use a string compare on <title>?

I'll understand if you don't wish to discuss some of the inner workings of gbpvr.

To be honest GB-PVR doesnt really care too much about which parts are which, but it does care if there is already a recording with the same zap2it id, or if the id ends in '0000' indicating a unique identifier is not available for this show.

GB-PVR doent have much functionality that depends on this type of info because it pretty much isnt available in xmltv files outside the US/Canada (with a couple of minor exceptions).

Record Season (all episodes on this channel) records everything with that shows title on that channel

Record Season (all episodes in this daily timeslot, this channel) records everything with that shows title on that channel, on the day that you are setting it up, within the AllowableTimeslotVariance

Record Season (all episodes in this weekly timeslot, this channel) records everything with that shows title on that channel, on any day, within the AllowableTimeslotVariance

So it seems for the type: Record Season you just search the guide data for a match on the Title and the channel. That makes sense. I'm guessing I'll have to implement something similar if dd_progid gets dropped (maybe I'll MD5 hash the title). Here's hoping zap2it comes through with a reasonable pay plan.

any news on converting the MCE data yet?
it's the closest to the old zap2it as far as i can tell, and has ability to do digital and select individual channels for the lineup..[presumably shrinking d/l size]

I'm finished with the Yahoo grabber and I've started on the MCE grabber. The main issue with MCE was that you can only get one guide for analog and one for digital. I have found a way to get the list of providers and initiate download for any and all providers. Converting the data will be pretty easy. It should be done and readyfor testing within the next 2 weeks.

That's good to hear. I've been following this thread with a lot of interest. I want to stay with GBPVR with it's ability to use multiple tuners & multiple sources (OTA, QAM,basic cable ..etc) & integrated into one guide for tv viewing & recording. Without a working guide I was wondering what I would have to do.

You helped me in the past with my questions on the HDHomerun.

If these are going to be viable options for getting the tv guide could someone please add them to the wiki or setup separate threads under the community announcements board for each tool please? I've been trying to keep up with the development, but there are so many posts on this thread it is taking a long time to read it all.

Hi,
I'm sure I'm in the same boat as everyone else here that relies on EPG programming for their GBPVR from Zap2It.
My issue is similar.
I just installed a fresh Windows XP on a new drive, built the system up. Now when I try to request my user/pass from the Zap2It page through my email. I get an error message stating, my email address is not on record!
So now I have no EPG source. What can I do?
I'm starting to consider Beyond TV or Sage TV..... I don't want to go there though.
Please help.

I've got the same problem. You can try one of the grabbers that a few people are working on to get you some listings via xmltv.

zap2it is just temporarily down. They'll be back soon, so try a little later.

The service wont be terminated before september, and there will be other options available before then.
