If I don't connect with coax, then how will the capture card get audio to record? Svideo only gets video.

As we've described above - connect with coax. Set your input source to 'fixed channel, external tuner' option. Set the constant channel number to 2/3/4 or whatever RF channel the DirecTV box outputs on.

pBS Wrote:for output from sat box, use svideo if you possibly can, it has a far better picture than rf coax[usualy ch 3 or 4 in US,but could be different on directtv box] [rf coax channel is same channel you tune tv to when connecting it directly to sat box]

This is why I asked how svideo will also transmit audio from the DirecTV tuner box -- it can't.

If you use svideo, then you'd have to plug in the left/right (white/red) audio cable too.

svideo will give a better picture than your original coax plan, but either option will work.

Guide data now loads correctly. There are some bugs in the ytvapi_xml that need to be worked out. After I removed the double 648 channel entry, and changed all &amp to and (they all used to be &, then I changed them to &amp), the guide data loaded. Why is it said that & must be changed to &amp for the XMLTV loader to work?

I tried changing channel via guide to a DirecTV channel. Double-clicked guide entry, clicked Watch, got this error:

This is just the way the xml file standard works. Its not a GB-PVR thing. Same story with html files. If you really want to know more, google will give you a million articles on it.

zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Why is it that when I had &amp in there, Update EPG didn't succeed? I took out the double channel 648 but had &amp and it failed with an error in EntityName and it specified a line and position. That line had &amp in it. I changed all &amp to and, then Update EPG worked.

Did you have "&amp" not "&". That semi-colon is pretty important.
