Web interface & recording service

Anyone else having these problems?

Accessing the web interface is extremely intermittent, it seems. I'll try and access it (locally) and it is often not coming up, now. I restart the recording service and it still won't. Restarting the whole bloody computer seems to be the only thing that'll fix this and the recording issue, below.

Also, upon restart, if I've moved the GBPVR program folder in the Start menu, the installation for GBPVR comes up, again (very annoying). This didn't used to happen but once or twice per release version.

And, now, I'm missing recordings even though the recording service should've been fine.

Help on any/all of these issues would be greatly appreciated.

No problems here - sounds like a problem with the recording service rather than EWA and the EWA issues are just a symptom.

IIRC the re-installation, usually happens when it notices that a file is missing

Have you tried a fresh install? - backup config, database + export your recordings from the config app first..

Same thing happened to me, and was able to finally figure it out when I checked the event viewer.

To expand on what elite was talking about with EWA, if the recording service crashes, it will leave the listener port open for EWA. When you try to restart the recording service it will fail because it can't use the EWA listener port (port conflict).

In XP Pro, you'll see the port conflict error in the Event Viewer, Application Logs.

I'll be damned. There it is (I never use Event Viewer >.>). Any solutions? Other than restarting the computer >.>

Hmm, I would imagine you'd have to figure out what process is holding the port open and kill it. The problem is that if the GBPVRRecordingService service crashed, then the GBPRVRecordingService process is gone. I'm really not sure what's holding the port open. What's the built in web server for EWA? Does it use a separate process than the recording service?

Sub or UncleJohnsBand would probably be able to answer those questions. You might want to post (or search first) under the EWA thread in Plugins.

If the recording service crashes, then post the logs and I'll take a look. Also, if there is a message in the Window Event Viewer, then let me know what it says.

Are you using the EWA that came with your gbpvr install or have you upgraded it since?

The web service will crash if you don;t follow UJB's installation instructions on the wiki to the letter.

As of now what is shipping with GBPVR is the same as the most recent release (build 64).

Okay, sub, it happened again and I've no idea why. I accessed the web admin and the recordings list came up fine. When I tried to navigate to another part of the EWA, my browser just sat there forever until it timed out. Incidentally, a recording HAD started/was running before/during my attempted access. Which logs do you need me to post?

EDIT: Towards the end of a consecutive recording block, the recording service suddenly crashed. I restarted the service through the command line shortcut and then checked the logs. Not a single line was present with any information as to what happened. The EWA came back up okay, this time. I hate these erratic problems >_<
