sub Wrote:Unfortunately there is a bit more to it than just skinning the sucker to make it get the new high resolution stuff, but once you do it it's resolution independent, and works well on widescreen or 4x3.

It is a bit easier to write plugins these days, and can even do pretty cool fast animations if you want to. There are some samples here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=27703. The helloworld sample actually does buttons on the left, plus list control on the right (supporting icon/list/details/filmstrip views), so would actually be reasonable step towards what you required for the MyVids interface. If you're interested and want to know more about development under the new system, feel free to ask, or PM me.

You'll always be welcome back.

yeah i took a quick look at the tiles plugin, and it was pretty, thats the main reason i left gbpvr getting it to do anything "fancy" just took too much cpu power and gave you bugger all fps.

i just would need a high resolution skin that looked good to come back, mediaportal has some niceish skins (nothing really hi res though). if i had time i may just do one myself, but that would be months away if ever.

at the end of the day im vain, i want something pretty Smile gbpvr kicks mediaportals arse in everything except that, but now i think it should be able to be just as pretty or prettier than mediaportal aswell. so once thats done, ill switch, rewrite one or 2 plugins and hopefully be happy.

oh and probably want access to the underlying windows form, if i was ever to attempt the nero burning thing, it kinds of needs a reference to the form to work well (otherwise it gets really hacky)

errr just so im clear, sub you have done an excellent job on PVRX2, i do like it a lot Smile

just a question... what needs to be done to make it pretty? someone needs to make a skin that appeals to you? and if that is what you are looking for, you might want to drop some hints as to what you think looks good, maybe some examples Smile

it just comes down to a good looking skin..... at a high res

mediaportal is nice and all, but still no where near as stable as gbpvr

I think I just wet my trousers...:o

pretty = high res skin (current ones look very pixely when running at 1920x1080), nothing blue/green (every media centre does this), something darker would be nice. dark blue/black is always a good combo.

oh and until the "overscan" settings work in pvrx2 (unless they do and im missing something) would have to compensate for overscan

this one is alright

and so this one

and they look pretty good running at 1920x1080

Just to be pedantic... The old plugins + old skins looked "very pixely when running at 1920x1080". Thats not the case with new plugins and new skins.

The new 'blue' skin under PVRX2 renders all the screens to perfectly match the resolution. The skining engine used by these new plugin renders to the precise target resolution giving you the best possible text etc. No stretching involved.

I'll leave other skins to other people. The new 1.0.8 'blue' is worlds better than the old 'blue' skin, and much more professional, but there are certainly others that are more skilled than me at the art of making beautiful skins.

Its still early days for this new generation of GB-PVR, but we're starting to see new skins and plugins built for it. The future looks promising.

i tried community2 and err the other updated one for pvrx2, both of those did. true the blue doesn't, but its still aint that pretty Tongue and that background looks a little off (like how a gradient looked in win95 only using 256 colours, err best i can explain, just a little off).

the tv guide doesnt lineup for me, the rectangles seem to be drawn to big and the bottoms are all cut off (ill post a screenshot when im at home if you like)

totally agree, theres just still a couple of things keeping me from coming back, overscan probably the biggest at the moment.... i could handle a "average" skin for a little while, but i have to be able to see the menu Smile
