Greetings Jim

After doing more research and playing around it is not as big a problem as I first thought. The (*) is added to the name in the recordings section but thats about all I see.

I followed the directions on the wiki "xmltv setup:
Click on UpdateEPG.bat, enter +0000 for the first question (offset) then enter your Zap2It user name & password for the next two. Press <enter> for all other questions unless you have multiple-lineups.
--configure.bat is used to update your channel lineup if it changes for any reason.

After the setup questions have been entered your listings will be automatically downloaded.
If you entered something wrong during the setup stage, delete the ".xmltv" folder and start over at "xmltv setup:".

Problem is it never asked me a question about offset or for my zap2it username and password. I clicked UpdateEPG.bat and it came up with a command line box, displayed sone info and never asked me a question about offset or the other previously mentioned info, it merely disappeared. I made NO changes to the switch settings. Where is the XMLTV folder? Is that the same as the I-xmltv folder?
What Should I do next?
Thanks in advance for the help,

After extraction, “ReadMe-NOW.txt” in the “C:\I-xmltv” folder has the setup instructions for I-xmltv. I haven’t looked at the xmltv wiki page, but it wouldn’t be for this utility.
Sounds like you need to download xmltv and copy xmltv.exe to the I-xmltv folder. A download link for xmltv is included in the I-xmltv folder, and in the manual (ReadMe-NOW.txt).

Hope this helps.

Hey Jim. I really love the I-XMLTV.

I'm programming a new ep renamer and it looks up values in the db. I'm writing it to be compatible with a default setup of I-XMLTV. But I can't find (granted my blood shot eyes have not given it a really thorough look) how to adjust something.

Easiest way to give example

American Dad has a production number of 223

Epguides.com has a production number of 2AJN23

It's like xmltv is stripping out non numbers.

This happens for '24' and 'simpsons' too, (hmm they're the Fox Shows) Probably more, that's what I found so far.

Is it better to tweak IXMLTV to include those letters, or when My program searches through epguides.com, for it to strip out the letters before a compare...

You know what I'm talking about?

I must say that if I have to go line by line through the ripped html, and sample a spot in the non delimited text, and have that sample stripped to compare, it will add a bunch more time to the job...

Thanks...

EDIT: Well I answered my own question when I posted this. The problem is solved.

Sorry about the very slow reply Frank, I read your post when I was out of town and didn’t have time to reply until now.

I pass the complete episode-num field that Zap2It sends, I don’t remove anything from it. But I don’t know if the data Zap2it sends is consistent with other online episode/production-numbers, I just pass what they give.
The original xmltv download from zap2it is xmltv.xml, it can be checked against the final output (TVGuide.xml) when needed.

The X-Files is another show that uses letters inside the production number, and 24 had this information in both of the xml files.

<title lang="en">24</title>
<episode-num system="onscreen">5AFF24</episode-num>

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jim. I got it working. I simply stripped all non numeric data from both the production number on epguides.com and the one from xmltv.

ZRename is working quite well now. It's interesting to see that there is a better chance of getting the correct season and episode info using your I-XMLTV than the default Zap2it.

Thanks for this program, its great. I have one thing to ask though. I was trying to figure out if there was a way to make linebreaks for director, actor, producer and etc. It looks a little messy when using spaces.

Sorry about the slow reply.

There is a place to add a cast & crew leader in I-xmltv.ini, the default is just a few spaces.
(see the example below)
I don’t believe TV Guide or TV Listings recognize special characters that would allow a line break. It would be easiest to just enter more spaces to ensure it will be down a line or two.
Hope this helps
Jim

Zap2It has announced they will be discontinuing their service on 9/1/07.
This utility (I-xmltv) depends on Zap2It EPG data as downloaded by XMLTV and will stop functioning on or before that date.

Problems arising between now and the shutdown date are to be expected, are not related to I-xmltv, and will not be supported in this thread.
It was great while it lasted, if a solution appears that will allow I-xmltv to function again I’ll post it here.

I had a notice with the Zap2It to update my subscription using the --configure.bat. So I did. Now I can't download any data. The xmltv.log is giving me the following error:
Quote:loading data: ##################################################
Writing schedule: hash missing value for title (expected list) at /PerlApp/XMLTV.pm line 2534.
keys missing in programme hash, not writing at /PerlApp/XMLTV.pm line 2573.
hash missing value for title (expected list) at /PerlApp/XMLTV.pm line 2534.
I've deleted my zap2it lineup and recreated it. Still nothing.

Any help with this?
Thanks!

Edit: I believe this is a problem with Zap2It once again. I've switched to the YahooXMLTv data with I-XMLTV. It's great. So long Zap2it!
