Any chance on getting it to understand file formats other than JPG? Specifically the Nikon camera RAW format NEF.

It does already handle more than .jpg. For example, .png, .bmp, .tiff.

Sorry though, the .net image libraries I use do not know how to read this NEF format, so its unlikely this will be added in future.

There is an add-on viewer for NEF files available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

Will this automatically make these formats available via the APIs you use?

I dont know. You could try adding the file extension to the <PhotoLibraryExtensions> setting in config.xml, then try opening it and see.

I already have the Microsoft RAW thumbnailer...if it's as easy as adding the file ext to the config.xml, I'm going to be pretty angry w/ myself for not trying it...

I added nef to <PhotoLibraryExtensions>, and it semi works. NEF files have a tiny jpg thumbnail embedded in them and the plugin was able to read those. But, at fullscreen, it looks like I just walked up, as close as I can, to a wall in the original DOOM, Wolfenstein, or Duke Nukem 3D...very pixelated. Is there any way to get it to read the actual image? Also, how come the plugin only thumbnails (in thumbnail view) jpg's and not the other file types?

Sorry, I dont have any answers for you on this. GB

-PVR doesnt really have any control over loading the image. This is all done behind the scenes in the .Net framework.

As a keen photographer, I shoot only in RAW (they're what Nikon calls NEF files). As a result, Photo Library doesn't display them - yet it would be helpful if it could because:
1. It would save me having to export to JPG just for this purpose and filling up the disc
2. More people are using RAW format than ever before.
3. MS now supports RAW in Vista and (via a hotfix) XP.

Any chance of having another look at this, sub? Thanks.
