This just started happening a night or two ago: when I'm watching animation on live tv, there are these little pauses once in a while. They don't seem to happen to recordings, and if I rewind, they are there, too.

I watch TV in timeshift, but live/record qualities are the same. I have tired moving the live tv to another drive and lowering the bit rate, but they don't help. Nothing is in the windows logs to explain it. It could be happening during regular shows, but I haven't seen it (even on news shows w/ a crawl).

Could you look at these logs and see if anything stands out. It happened like 3-5 times betweer 1:47-1:48 in these logs.

I haven't changed anything on the system recently at all (no new apps, plugins, drivers, etc). The only other thing I notced recently was once in a while the remote was becoming unresonsive to GB (the 150 IR commands...but not to the UIRT I use for vol/tv power).

Nothing stands out in the logs, but I'd experiment with other audio decoders and audio renders to see if it makes any difference. The sound device is usually responsible for managing timing and audio/video sync, which could be be the potential problem area here.

I can try that, but it still bothers me I have changed nothing on that system since the new release (I updated when zap2it switched over...so it's been a while).

I'm trying to find something else to peg it to. If it were the mpeg decoders, I would think it would happen to recordings. If it was any other decoders, then the avi files would suffer. Drivers don't seem likely since I haven't changed them, so I think of hardware.

If it were the vid or sound card, I would think it would happen during recorded/avi files. That would also be the case w/ processor/ram, since the avi files use much more processing power (80% vs 50%). If it were the hard drives, then I would think switching the buffer would make a difference.

The only think I can think of is the 150 card, since I could see it having to do more while watching than recording. The only thing there is I haven't heard of anyone's 150 card expiring on them. I've had mine maybe 3yrs now.

Sorry, I dont really know. There seems to be so many things on PC that cause strange unexpected stuff, particularly when it comes to video playback...

That's ok...I was just thinking out loud in case someone else knew.

I do have one question, if you have time for one more: what would be done differently watching TV in timeshift, vs watching a recording or an avi file? I'm just trying to narrow down what to look at.
