First let me say thanks to everyone who makes GBPVR possible. Your efforts with this tool are truly appreciated. I've made the jump and am now using 1.0.8, and I love a lot of the new features. I have discovered a small problem, tho I cannot be sure it was introduced with 1.0.8.

I would like to schedule a season recording (all episodes on this channel) for a program titled "Charlie & Lola" -- when scheduling this recording through the UI, it appears to have scheduled, but no recordings ever go to pending status. When attempting the same action through the web interface, I get a recording failed message in red at the top of the screen. As far as I can tell, there are no conflicts with time/etc.

I'm wondering if anything changed with the architecture where the ampersand would have to be escaped (\&, {&}, etc) in order to save.

I'm using ZAP2IT to get listings, through GBPVR.

If anyone has any suggestions for me, or if I've found a legitimate bug, please let me know.

As a side note, when using the new executable included with 1.0.8, overlay mode doesnt allow me to use buttons onscreen during playback. Sadly my PVR is not powerful enough to support other modes, or if it is I havent figured a way to make it work well.

Thanks in advance-

-Blu

It should cope with an ampersand in the title. Can you reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs?

The new user interface always use VMR9 Custom, which is required for the integration with Direct3D. There is no onscreen buttons in the new UI yet though - these are still on my todo list.

Tnx sub, I'll give it a whack tonight and attach a log. It is definitely reproducable.

Looks like I'll have to do some tinkering (reading about quartz.dll) to see if I can get some reasonable results on my puny little box. Sadly, I tried to upgrade the ram from 512m to a gig, and found out too late that (bows head in shame) my lil dell only supports 512m max. Doh!

512MB is just about enough. Make sure you shut down any xp services that are not required.

A 1Ghz celeron might be pushing it with .....you may have to stick to gbpvr.exe and overlay

Okay, I hope this post doesnt make me look more stupider than I feel Smile

I'm trying to pull logs, I have logging level in config (on the first tab) set to logging: VERBOSE. I then Attemp to schedule the recording, and as expected, it fails. (Thru the web interface I get Recording Failed! on top of the screen. Looking in the logs directory \\192.168.0.5\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\logs, there are no logs that match the date/time -- looks like nothing got logged. I have other logs with lots of info in them, like when I open config, start recording, stopped recording, all that jazz. I also tried scheduling the recording thru the GUI with same result.

Can someone please point me in the right direction, searching the forums for "LOG" doesn't seem to be helping me much.

Thanks in advance-

Did you schedule the recording inside GB-PVR? If so then it'll be in the logs. If you sheduled it in EWA, then I dont know where it logs to, and you should repeat it inside GB-PVR's TV Guide screen.

Okay, retried thru native app. Log attached. Recording scheduled towards the end of the log (20:26)

Looks like a lot of
2007-07-22 20:27:00.375 VERBOSE Failed to get colour key value

Not sure what that corresponds to, maybe it will help. Daily program, this timeslot, keep 20 episodes.... lmk if this helps or if you need anything else.

Thanks as always sub!

Can you schedule that recording, then post the gbpvr.exe.log?

I think I figured it out.

The show I'm taping is a kids show, and I basically keep a "rotating stock" of episodes -- that is I keep the last 21 airings. Looking at the x2.exe log, I found an option was set for ZAP2IT to try to avoid dupes. Now, the folder for this particular show was empty, but I'm guessing that GBPVR kept a database (xml somewhere?) of the episodes it had recorded somewhere, and just saw them as dupes of earlier recordings.

I ran config, unchecked this box, and while it didn't seem like it was working at first, I checked yesterday and have three new episodes recorded.

So I think this issue is resolved, as a user error Smile

I have the logs if anyone is interested, tho I'm guessing not.

Thanks sub-

ok - cool.

You can also set the following in config.xml if you dont want it to remember recordings it previously had:

<RetainedPreviousEpisodeDays>0</RetainedPreviousEpisodeDays>

The default setting is 40, which means it'll remember specific episodes you had for up to 40 days. Setting it to 0 will mean any show not currently in the 'pending' or 'ready' list is fair game for recording.
