I was wondering if there has been any thought towards cpu horsepower vs tuners. When I had 2 pvr150's in my system it seemed sluggish but workable.

Then I added a hvr1600 and it seems to be much more noticable Sad

What exactly seems sluggish? Changing channels, or something else?

I have 4 tuners with a duron 1.6Ghz and it runs fine, even surfing the net. So a 4000+ should run fine with 2 little old 150's in there.

Changing channels takes 2-3 seconds for the new channel to lock in and start playing (before it was up to a second).

But overall sluggishness when I'm recording 1 or 2 shows and trying to watch tv.

This is possibly related to an issue discussed and fixed in another thread: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=7

It shouldnt be any different that previous releases. How is your CPU usage?

Thats not that high. Depending on what you're trying to watch, and what decoders you're using and whether it uses hardware acceleration, 40% could be normal.

Did you try that patch I mentioned above to see if it helped changing channels?

I'm using nvideo pure and I'm still on GBPVR. Is there a big difference in cpu usage with 1.0.8 ? I guess i'm skiddish about upgrading cause of the unknown missing features.

I'm not aware of any difference. Watching video etc should use pretty much the same CPU as previous releases assuming they're both using the same renderer. If you're going to running the new PVRX2 user interface, then it should be using about the same CPU usage as running the with old release using VMR9 Custom renderer (PVRX2 always uses VMR9 Custom).
