I keep getting failed random recordings, I'm including the Log files and (2) Event files. The most recent are:

7/25/07 9am to 10am Dora the explorer
&
7/26/07 11am to 11:30am The wonder pets

The system is Normally in Hibernation and set to "wake to record" and i have Winoff set to put the system back in Hibernation. It was working fine for about 2 weeks, but now its getting spotty. It was supposed to start recording tonight: 7/26/07 Burn Notice at 10pm, but never woke up.

As you already know, the recordings failed because the machine wasnt awake at the time the recording was dur to start.

Each time a recording is scheduled GB-PVR asks Windows to ensure the machine is awake at the specified recording start, and the rest is up to Windows, your motherboard and its ACPI function. GB-PVR doesnt have any other control over making sure it wakes up, or monitoring when its awake or asleep or anything like that.

Sorry, I know thats not very useful, but I dont have anything else to offer you.

It may be something to do with WinOff.

i know that that episode of "Burn Notice" wasn't right, it popped up for me and recorded, but it's not burn notice, and i can't delete it now..?
[i can delete but not from recordings]
it had very strange properties in the guide, like it had changed in last few days, and had different times if i looked at the guide or the details of the entry..
[opened guide, saw it pending for 10-11pm, but details popup said 9:10-9:50 !
i checked the recording, and it was part of a different show..
and in the guide, it looked at the top of timeline like the show was 1.5 hours..

Sub, any way i can delete the file from recordings screen? manually even?
i can't find any references to it yet with db browser..
i deleted file manually, but still says delete/cancel in recordings..

The Guide makes sense to me, I know for a fact its not the PC, its been Waking up and Hibernating fine for weeks, and that wouldn't change by itself, Maybe Zap2it is preparing for D-Day and the Freebie Guides are the Test candidates....

ahh, i found it..for some reason it wasn't showing up..possibly busy db..
all better now...Smile

oh and this was the classic zap2it data, not the new ones..
they occasionally get the data wrong or have to deal with changes..so not 100% correct..
the new ones are also TMS data..so no real changes actually..happens on MCE too..

OK Every recording I setup since I posted this post failed. I'm setting up now I did an EPG too update so hopefully this fixes the problem

I am having the same fault. I also use my machine in hibernation mode and let it wake for recordings. I then let Windows put it back to into hibernation mode after 30mins of inactivity. I have noticed over the last few days that this has stopped working. I see that Sub states about ACPI and Windows interaction, but in my case it wakes for the daily EPG update, but not for recordings. This suggest that windows and ACPI are working fine, but perhaps GBPVR recording service is not setting the alarm for pending recordings.

I thought there was something written to the recordingservice log for this.. but could not find it. Is there any extra debug flags I can activate to help trace this issue?

There are no errors in windows event viewer.

Using v1.08.

I'll add some messages in og for the next release which shows the times its asked Windows to wake up. It'll hopefully make it clearer to people exactly what GB-PVR is doing in regards to wakeup requests.

Update: I remembered that it stopped working around the time ( a few days ago) I changed the pre-padding minutes from 10 to 5. Today I changed it back to 10 and it worked fine (i.e. it awoke from hibernation mode in time for a recording). I then changed it back again to 5 and it also worked.

This has historically always worked for me, so it must have been some problem when a few days ago when I changed this value to 5 mins.

Pochrist: I suggest you try the same.

All of my recordings fail too, no matter how I set them up. The difference is, my PC is on constantly and has no power-down settings (including shutting down drives or even a screen saver).
