Sub, does VBR now work for the GO based tuners like the Plextor and Walker? How is the audio handled for Divx is it compressed or is it PCM audio?

Sorry, no VBR on GO devices yet. I asked WIS (the chipset manufacturer) about this, and they send me some very complex information which I never found time to decypher. On a brighter note, the bitrates now work on the Plextor and Walker devices. Previously the drivers were just ignoring my requested bitrate due to a bug in one of the fields. DivX recording are much better now.
The audio is being pass through the supplied Intervideo or HT MPEG1 audio encoder, so you should get MPEG1 layer II audio. The Walker does still have one very ugly feature, starting LiveTV for the first time. One of the calls which takes a few milliseconds on the Plextor, takes nearly 10 seconds on the Walker. I've tried to talk to LifeView about this but there answer was 'sorry, its busy in the drivers'.

I've got a problem with my Hauppauge 350 with this release. Â I upgraded from 027 and am using hardware output. Â My source is the Fixed Channel External Tuner with a channel of 3 and when given the selection of Cable or Antenna, I choose Cable.
When I goto either LiveTV or Guide and select a channel, I get snow with no audio. Â I changed my source to Internal Tuner to see if it could pull from a signal from the coax with the same results. Â I then put it back on my original settings and changed the Cable selection to Antenna. Â Now I get B&W video but no audio. Â I also tried turning off 350 hardware output and used software only, and it looks the same in all cases. I was running the latest official Hauppauge drivers from there site. Â I have since downloaded the newest set from shspvr, completely uninstalled GB-PVR, deleted the directory and re-installed .90 clean. Â Everything is the same. Â I'm am now trying to install .2313, updating the EPG and seeing if it works(it did the last time I tried it anyway), and if it does, upgrading off of that to .90. I'll get back with the results, I also want to try the composite and s-video inputs to see if they have a signal.

From my last post, installing over 2313 did nothing. I now have .90 installed again and was running with the Fixed-Channel External Tuner, Tuner Cable, Channel 3 (My normal working settings). Not all channels are snow, some try to show video, but it's scrambled, some are black with interference lines, but no channels work.
On the positive note, I tried the S-Video and composite sources, and they both work. I'm going to play with the new features with the composite input for awhile, but I would really like to get back to the Fixed-Channel input if possible. sub, do you have any suggestions for me? Would you like any of my log files or anything? It seems the Fixed-Channel and Internal tuner is broken (on my system anyway). Can't wait to try the new features!

Yes over your logs and I'll take a look - support@devnz.com

Just a reminder - for those have switched their database from the default Access MDB database to something else (MSDE etc), you'll need to apply the equivalent statements to upgrade.sql.

I did not have success with the new 0.90. The recording service starts fine, but when I start the GBPVR application, system memory goes to zero, CPU utilization for the gbpvr.exe goes way up and down, nd there appears to be lots of disk activity, but the application never gets up. I tried to turn all the plugins off in the config app, but no improvement...
Any ideas? peter

OK sub, I sent the log files over. As stated in the email, the Tuning Assistant does work with channel 3, but for some reason, GB-PVR doesn't.

That's the behaviour you'd expect to see if you're not using Blue, Flat Blue or Red Sky.[b Wrote:Quote[/b] (PeterM @ Feb. 01 2005,13:17)]The recording service starts fine, but when I start the GBPVR application, system memory goes to zero, CPU utilization for the gbpvr.exe goes way up and down, nd there appears to be lots of disk activity, but the application never gets up.i was using the media experience skin in version .2313, but have changed to the regular Blue skin for .90 -- sub suggested using that one until the skinners get a chance to update for the new version.
