I have 2 Nova-T 500 cards and am having trouble getting GBPVR config to map the channels. I'm a little confused as to which number means what!

When i tick the "Only show devices detected in this machine" i get :-

Hauppauge Nova-DT #1 DVB-T and
Hauppauge Nova-DT #2 DVB-T

I can get #1 and #2 working if the device number in the BDA configuration screen is set to 1, but not if it's set to 2.

Does the device number equate to the physical card, so am i correct in thinking that i have got both tuners on one of my Nova-DTs working and neither of the tuners working on the other?

I have run ScanChannelsBDA_UK.exe and got all my tuners to scan, but when GBPVR tries to map the channels i get :-

GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly, and not alreadyt in use. (Reason: Failed to locate configured BDA capture device).

I've zipped and attached my log files.

Can you shed any light on this?

Many Thanks.

I only have one nova-t-500. The first tuner is set as:-

Device type - Hauppauge Nova-T-500 DVB-t (1) and device number 1

the second is set as:-

Device type - Hauppauge Nova-T-500 DVB-T (2) and device number 1

Can't help any further though. Are the two nova-T's the exact same version?

That's exactly what i wanted to know actually. Thanks.

It tells me that the "Device Number" is the physical card and the #1/#2 are the tuners within the card.

I'll try the ScanChannelsBDA_UK again, as i was adding in one tuner card at a timer (2 Nova-T 500s and 2 Nova-Ts). So it could be that the card numbers got juggled around and i actually tested the same dual tuner card twice over.

This is quite annoying as one of the dual tuners has just recently been RMA'd.

Thanks again.

The device numbers only increase if there is multiple devices with the exact same name. So...the device numbering really depends on how the device manufacturer has named things.

In this case Hauppauge gave each of the devices different names (by embedding the number in the name), so each is device #1.

Sorry sub, i don't really follow what you're saying.

In my machine i currently have 2 Nova-T 90002 tuners and 2 Nova-T 500 tuners. My understanding of things is that the 90002's should be set up as :-

Hauppauge Nova-T (90002), Device Number = 1

and

Hauppauge Nova-T (90002), Device Number = 2

and as for the 500's the :-

Hauppauge Nova-DT #1 DVB-T refers to the first tuner and the
Hauppauge Nova-DT #2 DVB-T refers to the second tuner.

Since i have 2 500's the first card will have one of each of the above with the Device Number set to 1, and the second card will have the same but with the Device Number set to 2.

Is that correct?

I have attached a screenshot that will hopefully illustrate what i'm trying to say.

Thanks.

Sixgun,

Do you have Nova-T 500 cards or Nova-TD 500 cards? I found the Nova-T 500 I purchased was actually a Nova-TD 500 and was detected by gbpvr as a Nova-DT. (AFAIK the Nova-TD 500s have 2 aerial sockets whereas the Nova-T 500 only has a single aerial socket on the back plate)

If your cards are Nova-TD 500s you could try cutting and pasting the following into your bda.ini file in the gbpvr directory - these settings work for me with 1 Nova-TD 500:

[Hauppauge WinTV Nova-TD-500 DVB-T #1]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER="Hauppauge WinTV MOD7700 DVB-T Tuner (Dev1 Path0) "
FILTER_CAPTURE="Hauppauge WinTV MOD7700 DVB-T Capture (Dev1 Path0)"
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[Hauppauge WinTV Nova-TD-500 DVB-T #2]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER="Hauppauge WinTV MOD7700 DVB-T Tuner (Dev1 Path1) "
FILTER_CAPTURE="Hauppauge WinTV MOD7700 DVB-T Capture (Dev1 Path1)"
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Note: If your card is a Nova-TD 500 you only need one aerial cable connected to socket 1, leave the other socket unconnected.

The device numbers only increase when you have multiple devices with the same name. You unfortunately have a mixture which can make it confusing.

I think your devices have the following names:

"Hauppauge WinTV MOD7700 DVB-T Tuner (Dev1 Path0) "
"Hauppauge WinTV MOD7700 DVB-T Tuner (Dev1 Path1) "
"Hauppauge WinTV MOD7700 DVB-T Tuner (Dev2 Path0) "
"Hauppauge WinTV MOD7700 DVB-T Tuner (Dev2 Path1) "
"Hauppauge WinTV 88x DVB-T Tuner/Demod"
"Hauppauge WinTV 88x DVB-T Tuner/Demod"

Notice the nova-t 500 uses different names for each device, while the nova-t 90002 uses the same name.

So you end up with two "Hauppauge Nova-T (90002)" capture sources, set as device #1 and device #, since these both had the same names. You also end up with four capture sources for the Nova-T 500, each as device #1, since the name is different for each.

My disclaimer is that I dont have any of these specific devices, so I could easily be wrong.

They are T's. I wasn't aware there were different types. They have just the one aerial socket.
