I've just looked at MUX 2 again with TS Reader and it seems to be carrying almost all of the event information for Channel 4. MUX C, on the other hand, is now carrying significantly less information for Channel 4 than it was last night.

I've been reading the ETSI 'Specification for Service Information (SI) in DVB Systems'. It appears that it is only mandatory for a given TS to carry present/following event information for channels it carries. Carrying an EIT for the full schedule for the actual TS is optional as is carrying present/following and/or schedule event information for other transport streams.

sub - when you are harvesting the EPG, do you specifically only look for EIT data for known channels on each individual MUX or do you gather all EIT data on each MUX (ignoring present/following) and then 'clump' it all together?

Cheers,
Brian

It only looks for the listings associated with channels it has on that mux.

(I should say 'previously' though, because I spent some time on this yesterday and next release will now harvest the "other" services EPG data. Hopefully you'll be able to give it a test run for me?)

So it could be a bit of a lottery when it comes to getting all the relevant EI data within the harvest period. Smile

I've done some more reading on another ETSI white paper WRT 'Guidelines for implementation and usage of SI'. I'm not going to pretend to understand it fully as I've only dipped into various sections. It seems there are 'rules' as to how often EIT tables are broadcast depending on whether they're for actual TS, other TS and contain present/following or schedule event information. It could be just coincidence that I happened to retune TSReader to MUX 2 several times and only hit the time frame for the present/following for Channel 4 - a minute later, for instance, I might have seen the schedule EIT. Not sure.

Yep - I'll give it a whirl.

I have this same problem using the same usb stick. I'm on BlackHill (Scotland), but I have no idea what you brainy people are saying in here lol. Anyway I just wanted to know if there is a way to watch Channel 4 because it doesent let you click on it if theres no epg and i really want to watch big brother just now :p

Thanks in advance Big Grin

Best guess would be to select the channel above or below and then use the up/down arrow keys? Or simply enter channel number? Smile

Apologies for the techno babble.

BTW - there also appears to be ongoing work at Black Hill so it's possible this could also be the reason for failed scans at certain times.

Cheers,
Brian

If you need another tester, I'd be happy to help. Thank you for spending time on this, it's unfortunate that many of the programmes I'd record are on the channel that's missing it's EPG.

I thought this was fixed with
<DvbEpgHarvestOtherServices>true</DvbEpgHarvestOtherServices>
