I just made my first 2 recordings with the new HVR1600
neither will play through GBPVR
I checked the files, and there are 2 files.
first one is 5.5k
second is the recording, and filename ends in -1
this is true for both recordings.
if I delete the small one, and remove the "-1" from the filename of the other it will play fine in GBPVR, but I dont want to have to do that for each recording.

am I doing something wrong??

ALSO--
neither recording has any sound.
is that a setting somewhere??
several of the digital channels said AC3 on them, but I do not have an AC3 setup.

ALSO--
video seems choppy for the first couple minutes, but clears up afterwords.

both of the recordings were standard definition digital.

Hi,

It sometimes happens when recording from digital sources, that the first attempt to record does not work and it results in a very small file, then a second attempt is made (file appended with -1) and this normally works fine.

Knowing this sometimes happens, I add the recordings directory to the VideoLibrary default plugin, and that way can directly access the file with -1 and play in from the VideoLibrary interface in GBPVR. There is no need to rename it, before playing it, using this method.

The no sound issue, is probably that you dont have the AC3 codec installed. It can be easy downloaded from the web.
e.g.

now that my video problems seem to be fixed, I can come back to this problem.

I tried the above codec, with little success.
after trying several different ones, I found that ffdshow audio decoder will add sound to MOST of the digital recordings, but not all.

what else can I try??

still cant get audio from certian recordings.
ffdshow audio seems to get the audio from more than the others.
only descaler and nvidia will get video, but nvidia is VERY instable and creates lots of artifacts, and descaler locks up occasionally on ff & rw.
GPL seems to be quite stable with a good image on analog, but nothing but blackness on digital.

I am recording in dvr-ms.
I tries to switch to cyberlink, but all digital recordings still end in dvr-ms.

any help is appreciated.

If you have access to a webserver, you can make a small sample file available, and I'll check the audio.

This usually means you dont have the Cyberlink mux installed. You can check by running muxchecker.

here you see matthew brodrick getting thrown into a mass grave.

I will look into the cyberlink thing.

one recording using the cyberlink mux so far.
it is the first recording I was able to access through the recordings menu.
it did not make the small file first.
it was on the same channel as the glory recording above, and it still had no sound.

From what I can tell, there doesnt seem to be any audio in that file - hard to guess why exactly though given the video is there.

Can you do one of these problem recordings, then post the logs?

It probably wont help but you could try setting <BDAAutoMapPids>true</BDAAutoMapPids> in config.xml.

interesting.
it appears the soundless shows are all from the same channel.

I will set a recording for tonight, right after I make that edit to config.xml

thanks sub.
